Why Sports Fans Love Living In Philadelphia

Why Sports Fans Love Living In Philadelphia

There are plenty of cities across the United States that are huge for sports fans. If you’re lucky, you live in a city that has even one sports team. Minor leagues are just fine, but major leagues are the gold standard.

Then there are the cities that boast multiple teams from multiple sports. There’s New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and Washington, DC.

Oh, and Philadelphia. This city is a massive haven for sports fans, and those fans are absolutely raving mad for their hometown teams.

The love is so intense for the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and 76ers that it’s only worth scooping up one of the Philadelphia houses for sale if you have an interest in at least one team.

Let’s get into a few more reasons why Philadelphia residents love their city’s sports so much.

The Sport Diversity

Philadelphia is one of only a handful of American cities that can flaunt professional sports teams from four sports: baseball, football, hockey, and basketball.

In Philly, of course, as we alluded to above, you have the Phillies for baseball, the Eagles for football, the Flyers for hockey, and the 76ers for basketball.

That fact alone makes the city a great one to live in. You can choose to like or love one, two, or all four of those teams, and the more you love them, the more you’re going to love your city.

The Sport Infrastructure

For sports fans in Philadelphia, getting to home games isn’t much of a challenge at all, and city residents like it that way.

The city hosts the famous South Philadelphia Sports Complex, which is home to all four of those major teams we listed.

The 76ers and Flyers play at the Wells Fargo Center, the Phillies play at Citizens Bank Park, and the Eagles play at Lincoln Financial Field.

Sure, each arena has its own facilities and spaces, but it’s all located in one single complex where each arena or field is quite close to every other arena. It’s convenience to the max, and if you’re a sports fan, you gotta love it.

The Love-Hate Relationships

Then there is the love-hate relationship that exists between the city’s fans and its teams. For as hard as these fans love their teams when things are going well, they can’t stand it when they’re losing. Fans walk out of arenas, they spout off at the news and online, and they let losses get them down.

It all really comes from love, though. They just want to see their guys succeed. Because even if a team has a rough spot during the season, you can bet if there’s an eventual championship parade going on, fans are turning out like there’s no tomorrow, with cheering, jeering, and general partying going on everywhere.

If you’re a true sports fan, and you can find a sport you like among the four hosted in Philly, then you might just start to love it here.
