Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks admits he cannot wait to face Aston Villa on the opening day of the season. The fixture computer threw Spurs and Villa together on the opening day of the season at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the Lilywhites then make the difficult trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
Spurs also travel to rivals Arsenal at the end of the opening month with a home game against Newcastle in between. Winks had his most productive season for Spurs last year, featuring 41 times and starting the Champions League final. And, he is already excited for the first match, and says Villa will pose a big threat.

“It’s going to be an exciting game to kick-off the campaign against a newly-promoted side, especially with this being our first full season in the new stadium,” said the Academy graduate. “Villa are a big club and are going to want to kick-off their season positively after just being promoted back to the Premier League.
We’ll be ready for that. “We also have to respect the fact that this season a lot of teams are going to want to beat us, especially when they play at our new stadium. We will prepare well for every game as always and I’m fully confident can win any game at home.”
