Reports in Spain claim Barcelona will not sack Ernesto Valverde this summer despite rumours that he was on the verge of leaving. The 55-year-old has just completed his second season in charge of the Catalan giants, with back-to-back La Liga titles under his belt.

However, a failure to land the Champions League saw the former Athletic Bilbao chief under intense pressure to keep his job. The manner of Barca’s capitulation against Liverpool did not go down well with the fans or the clubs board and it seemed as though he was set for a summer departure.
But Barcelona-based publication Sport have stated that president Josep Bartomeu will not bow to pressure and instead give the Spanish tactician another season to try and secure European glory. Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman were two names mentioned in connection with the post but, if the report is to be believed, Valverde will still be in the dugout next term.
