Leeds Rhinos forward Brett Ferres has urged the squad to make full use of their “long turnaround” this week. The West Yorkshire side still remain in danger of being involved in an end-of-season relegation scrap following Friday’s defeat to Hull KR.
The loss brought an end to a two-game winning streak and leaves Leeds just two points clear of rock-bottom London Broncos. They don’t return to action until Sunday, when they face Hull FC, and Ferres, who has seen an improvement over recent weeks, has stressed the importance of taking advantage of the “long turnaround”.
“We’ve been better over the last couple of weeks and over the course of the last month,” Ferres said. “Even when we weren’t getting results the performances have been better. [Last week] was certainly very disappointing and we’ve got to learn from it and get back on the horse this week.
“The pleasing thing is it is in our hands, but there was a big opportunity to put some daylight between us [and the bottom] and we’ve not taken that. “We’ve got a long turnaround and it’s a really big week for us.”
