Ashley Young will depart Aston Villa upon the expiration of his contract at the Midlands club.
Villa announced that Young will leave the club and is set to look forward to another chapter in the beautiful game.
Villa revealed the news on their official website: “We can confirm that Ashley Young will be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract.
“The 37-year-old departs Villa Park having made 32 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring once, a stunning strike that earned Villa a point at Nottingham Forest.
“Young re-joined the club in 2021 on an initial one-year deal which was extended to the end of the 2022/23 campaign last summer.
“A firm fans’ favourite who was a versatile, experienced and popular member of the dressing room, made 250 appearances in claret and blue over two spells with the club.
“Everyone at Aston Villa would like to sincerely thank Ashley for his service to the club and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”
The 37-year-old started his football career at Watford before making the move to Aston Villa during the reign of Martin O’Neill.
After four seasons at Villa Park, Young joined Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United where he won the Premier League title amongst a host of other trophies.
He left for Inter Milan in 2019 where he teamed up with Antonio Conte to wrestle the Serie A title from the claws of Juventus.
He returned back to Villa on an initial loan deal that summer before making the move permanent.
