Gabriel Abu, another Ejike Ugboaja FC player has signed a three-and-half- year contract with Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara FC of Romania.
The 19-year-old attacker jetted out of the country on Wednesday to join his Romanian club via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Abu is the third player from Ejike Ugboaja FC that has signed a professional contract in Europe within the last six months.
It was Joseph Kelachukwu (Goalkeeper) who signed for CSM Unirea Alba Lulia FC of Romania before Elvis Victor Ekeh signed for FC Olimp Comrat Moldova and now, Abu.
Abu said he was happy that he is going to take his career to a professional level where he hope to come back one day to render his service to the nation.
However, he vowed to represent Nigeria well in his foreign club, while appreciating the management of Corvinul for finding him worthy to play for them.
He also thanked the management of Ejike Ugboaja FC for giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent to the world.
He said “I am ready to give my best to my new club as I prepare to join my team-mates on Friday over there in Romania.”
However, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ejike Ugboaja FC, Christopher Ejike Ugboaja has reiterated his commitment to giving young Nigerians the opportunity to showcase themselves to the world in basketball, American football and soccer.
He added that more players from Ejike Ugboaja FC will soon sign their pro-contracts and jet out of the country.
“We have good, young and hungry for success players here in our club, so by the grace of God on a regularly basis, our players would be signing contracts for clubs in Europe and other places.
“My target is to produce players whom if invited to play for the country will bring back the lost glory of Nigerian football.
“They are going to be dedicated, committed and be ready at all times to defend the country whenever they put on the jersey just like we did in basketball during our days,” he said.
