Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has expressed dissatisfaction with Man United manager, Erik Ten Hag’s decision to have allowed Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford.
Recall that the Portugal captain’s deal was terminated by the Red Devils following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Owen is of the opinion that the Dutch boss should have made the 37-year-old a regular in his team selection.
According to Owen, Ronaldo could have solved the team’s goal-scoring issues.
“I hear Ten Hag talking about Marcus Rashford probably needing to score 20 goals this, that and the other. Well, they had 20 goals sitting right under his nose but, unfortunately, he was sitting on the bench a lot of the time.
“The way things were going, there had to be an end to it, but it didn’t have to be like that. He could have played him every week and then he would have solved this problem of scoring goals and that’s the point.”
