Joseph Yobo is delighted to resume his role as assistant coach of the Super Eagles, reports Completesports.com.
The 40-year-old was appointed Super Eagles assistant coach in February this year, replacing Imama Amapakabo in the technical crew.
The former Super Eagles captain trained with the team for the first time on Tuesday ahead of Friday’s friendly against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
“New Chapter. Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr and his assistant coach,” he wrote on Instagram.

Yobo, who represented his country at the 1999 Under-20 World Cup, skippered the Super Eagles to Africa Cup of Nations success in South Africa in 2013.
The former Everton, Fenerbahce and Norwich City defender played in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments between 2002 and 2013 in a 14-year career.
He featured in three World Cup tournaments in 2002, 2010 and 2014, playing ten matches at the World Cup finals in total – the most appearances for the West African nation on the biggest stage.
Yobo became the first African to captain Everton in October 2007 and made more than 250 appearances for the Toffees, helping them qualify for the Champions League in 2005 and playing in the side that lost the 2009 FA Cup final to Chelsea.

I think Yobo will be a good fresh air to the super eagles, he has everything to make him a great coach in near future , he should keep his head cool and learn from his Boss!!..Thank God his analytical skill is top notch!!
Fine boy…! Lolz.
Benin pipo say follow who know road, but hol your own transport moni. Yobo, follow G.Rohr bumper to bumper as Elisha take folo Elijah, but make sure you also complete your badges to the highest level. You wont be next-time lucky to get a job anywhere with just 100 intl caps o. With the number of years you spent at everton there is no reason why you shouldnt be coaching at Everton (either in the main team or the reserves) or at worst Fenerbache, but throws coaching jobs at people just because they were ex-footballers alone.
Yobo is going to do well. My gut feelings tell me so.
Those who appointed him did so with foresight- looking far into the future. He is the student, Mr Rohr is his instructor. Give this guy time and the results will be wonderful.
Good luck Coach Yobo.
YOBO is better than GR. he is capable to transform super eagles he has nothing to learn from GR.
Guess you forgot your early morning dose
I actually love Yobo’s analyses on SuperSport during the last Afcon and I think Russia 2018. They were usually incisive, objective and spot on and the SA presenters obviously enjoyed his takes on matches too (Okocha was a delight as a guest analyst too. But then we all how it was with Oliseh).
Having said that, it’s a known fact Yobo doesn’t have the prerequisite paper qualifications and on-field experience for the role they’ve thrust him into. As @Bomboy said, my gut feeling disagrees with my head and says he’ll do well. We really hope so. He should bring a certain youthfulness, camaraderie and youthful ‘language’ to the training sessions. Fingers crossed. It’ll be nice to give him the CHAN or U23 team to manage sometimes soon (at least for 1 or 2 qualifiers to gain confidence).
yobo is a calm person, and plays well to instructions during his playing days. he also tolerate alots, he is also an inspiration to players. i think these are the charachters that earn him this rare opportunity. i pray he makes good use of it. he will definately learn from rohr and also grab the required badges for him to ecxell in the future.
