Joseph Yobo says he will bring experience, motivation and inspiration to the Super Eagles, reports Completesports.com.
Yobo, a former captain of the three-time African champions was appointed assistant coach by the Nigeria Football Federation in February.
The former Everton defender took the place of Imama Amapakabo in the Super Eagles coaching set up.

“I was a fan of the team before I became an assistant coach, so I’ve seen from a fanatical point of view how people feel when they are watching the team. We as players, while playing, don’t notice these things but after my retirement, I’ve been a pundit, I’ve given my opinion about what should be done in the team.”
Yobo also hopes his 15 years experience as a top professional will be vital for the team.
“I’m bringing in my experience. Having over 15 years of consistency in my career, I think that is a lot. The good thing is that the spirit is going to improve.
“Having been a pundit and looking at this team, I think we can go a lot higher with the quality we have.”

Golden son of ogoni land. you will surely prove your enemies wrong. The LORD will guide and protect you. We the real super eagles fans are strongly behind you. we will allways souport you with prayers.
@Stan, are you an Ogoni guy? because it seems you never discuss this Yobo’s appointment matter from an objective point.
According to his interview above, his real “qualification” is being a pundit and having 15 years playing experience as said below:
“Having been a pundit and looking at this team, I think we can go a lot higher with the quality we have.”
I know you’ll soon mention/cite Arteta at Arsenal. Anyway, I wish his the best of luck. He’ll need it!
Who dares cite Arteta as Yobo’s equal….???
HOW MIKEL ARTETA WENT FROM COACHING WALES U16 TO ARSENAL MANAGER
By Gareth Rogers
Mikel Arteta has been confirmed as Arsenal manager and is the latest FAW UEFA Pro Licence coach to take a Premier League top job.
The Spaniard, who was a terrace hero at Arsenal and Everton, joins fellow FAW educated coach, Chris Wilder, of Sheffield United, at English football’s top table.
When the stylish midfielder first turned-up at Dragon Park, to start the 2015 FAW UEFA A Licence course, he was still an important Arsenal player.
But, as part of his A Licence learning, the Basque born star came to Dragon Park in November 2015, to coach the Wales U16 squad which went on to win the Victory Shield, inspired by current senior internationala Ethan Ampadu and Rabbi Matondo.
Once he’d completed his UEFA A Licence course, Arteta joined former Arsenal teammates Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg in the Pro Licence cohort of 2017.
Also on that course was Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders, Newport County manager Mike Flynn and Connah’s Quay Nomads boss Andy Morrison.
Throughout this time, Arteta continued to cut his coaching teeth at Arsenal Academy, where his work helped him complete the requirements of the FAW UEFA Pro Licence.
Once he retired from playing, the former Spain U21 international joined-up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
In January 2017, the Man City assistant manager welcomed his fellow FAW Pro Licence students to the Etihad Stadium to watch the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur and observe training sessions and presentations led by Guardiola and his staff.
Arteta also delivered practical and theory sessions at the FAW National Coaches Conference in 2016 and 2017.

When Arteta was hussling….Yobo was bubbling…LMAO (apologies to Iyanya). Even after completing his coaching training he started with U16 and Academy teams, and making presentations at Conferences. He didn’t just jump from the pitch to the bench.
Our dear Ogoni Son was chopping his money for 6 solid years after retirement (When his contemporaries who had better playing careers with better clubs and under better coaches where hussling and working there buts off to become coaches)….not even mentoring his own grassroots team Joseph Yobo FC…and suddenly woke up one day and wants to lead the SE to Qatar 2022 with only 100 caps and punditry as his qualifications. LMAO.
Latter they will complain nobody wants to give them jobs in Europe….lolz.
Ei…Nigeria we hail thee…!
That’s the spirit bro! I trust you 100% ,you have done it before and will do the job better than expected, I only hope Oga Rohr will listen to you.
I’m bringing in my experience. Having over 15 years of consistency in my career, I think that is a lot. The good thing is that the spirit is going to improve.
“Having been a pundit and looking at this team, I think we can go a lot higher with the quality we have.”
We have the quality to play Brazil bomber to bomber just like Senegal did, our own team only drew inspiration from them that’s why they were able to sneak out draw.
Now we expect you to bring out that spirit of never die from the Eagles.
Hahahaha….
Rohr listen to who… Listen to someone who wasn’t born yet when he was winning trophies with Bordeaux and Bayern Munich as a player…. LMAO.
Yobo’s footballing contemporaries like Arteta, Ljungberg, Henry, Gerrard, Lampard etc have spent 4 years in coaching school and gathered coaching experience with youth teams, before becoming assistants and now managing premier league teams….your Mr 15 years experience is still learning how to make phone calls….LMAO
Stop deceiving yourself and better tell your friend to be humble and learn from his master. All his 100caps are already in the dustbin of playing career history….he should brace up to qualifying for his 1st cap as a coach.
Is like you had a personal issues with Yobo, if that’s the case you better go and settle with him, don’t bring it in my comment space.
I’m sure he will prove you wrong soon.
Even your oga Rohr have already beginning to like him, he knows he will benefit maximally.
Hehehehehe…the truth is bitter…LMAO.
You didn’t tell us you now own complete sports. Ngwa delete my comments from your “space na”
Typical Nigerian lolz. Saying the truth with facts is always equated to personal issues.
Speaking from both sides of the mouth….one moment you complain a man with several successful decades of both playing and coaching careers in Europe and currently the coach with highest win ratio for Nigeria ever is incompetent….the next moment you are hailing the appointment of one of our most calamitous central defenders of all times who isn’t even a coach yet as the most competent person for the Asst Manager position of one of the biggest teams in Africa. LMAO
“I am bringing back that motivation. As a former captain, I’m bringing inspiration. I’ve been there and I’ve done it all,”
Really?
So, there is mo motivation on the team. Yono is the one BRINGING IT BACK?
Why does this guy keep failing all the tests of diplomacy? He seems to be very complacent and careless with his words. From this attitude, I am seriously wondering what he has learnt after his so called “punditry”. Well, he will do well with Grandpa Jo. Who do us like this in Nigeria?
# So, there is no motivation in the team. Yobo is the one BRINGING IT BACK?
Mr. Yobo, I am praying for you to succeed with the Super Eagles. I also pray that you will have a good working relationship with Mr. Rohr your boss. And finally, I pray that the relationship between the NFF and the coaching crew will be restored.
I call on every fan of the SE to unite behind the NFF and coaching crew. Let us collectively send out positive energy to the team. Let us will them to success like we did with the Dream Team in 1996.
Once again Mr. Yobo, I wish you success at your new post.
I like his spirit and self belief in himself, I just don’t want him to loos focus , his eyes should always be on the ball , Igalo was written off even before he started training despite of being the African highest goal scorer in his last tournament in Afcon , even his country men join the whites to write of their own . The man belief in himself never intimidated by anyone nor distracted by distractors , by the time he he settled down for the business on the football pitch , even all critics swallowed their words as he is now a cult hero now in Manchester United .
That is the kind of motivational winning mentality needed in S/E.
I hope he’ll be able to learn from Rohr. He should be the one to listen to Rohr if he wants to succeed in coaching. I hope he uses that opportunity to obtain every necessary license he needs to qualify as a legitimate coach. Most of these people shouting the golden son ogoni land are the ones that always call him calamity Yobo during his playing days. Especially people like @Goal. The only thing I expect Yobo to bring to the SuperEagles is to be more of a motivational speaker based on his experience as an ex captain. Otherwise, he should just cherish the opportunity to learn and be more equipped for tough challenges ahead of him. SuperEagles under Rohr are already progressing. They’ve now played in two major tournaments gaining valuable experience. All that is needed is continuous improvement towards their next major tournament. This team have the chance to win the next AFCON and make some noise in Qatar if Nigeria qualify for the next world cup. #FLY LIKE AN EAGLE INTO THE FUTURE#
Nff should provide security for yobo. Some people in this forum are not happy since they apointed yobo as se second asistan coach. am afraid because they may plan evil against him.
