Wolves are being linked with a swoop for David Okereke, who plays his football with Spezia in Italy’s Serie B. The 21-year-old caught the eye when scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists as Spezia made it all the way to the play-offs before eventually missing out on promotion to Serie A.
After just falling short, reports in Italy claim Spezia will be unable to keep hold of him this summer and will cash in if a club come in an offer £8million. As well as Wolves, the reports go on to claim that Premier League rivals West Ham and Newcastle could also offer the Nigerian the chance to head over to England next season.
However, respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that all three will miss out as the player would prefer to stay in Italy and there is strong interest from Serie A side Sassuolo, who finished 11th last season. The chance to jump into the Italian top flight looks to be the player’s preferred option meaning Wolves will have to look elsewhere for a new attacker.
