Reports in Mexico claim Wolves are keen to sign Club America defender Edson Alvarez but face competition from Glasgow giants Celtic. The 21-year-old has been turning heads in the Mexican top flight, with an ability to play at right-back, in the centre of defence or even as a holding midfielder.
That versatility is a manager’s dream and, not surprisingly, a few European clubs have expressed an interest. Dutch duo Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have been linked while it has also been reported that the Bhoys are keen to take the man capped 22 times by Mexico north of the border.

However, Mexican outlet MedioTiempo are now claiming that Nuno Espirito Santo has joined the race for the youngster’s signature and will swoop during the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen if the reports are true but having a player who can feature in at least three positions would be a bonus for a Wolves side set to embark on a European adventure in the Europa League. Alvarez seems a durable character, having played 107 times for his club before the age of 22 and could be someone who would thrive in the cut and thrust of the Premier League.
