Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi, has explained why he believes the Super Eagles are capable of emulating Morocco’s feat at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
The Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup, following their shock 1-0 win against Portugal in last weekend’s quarter-finals.
Yousseff En-Nesysi’s first half goal secured the hard fought win for the North Africans.
Recall, the highest African had gotten to at the World Cup is the quarter-finals achieved by Cameroon, Ghana and Senegal.
The Super Eagles has only gotten to the round of 16 on three occasions in 1994, 1998 and 2014.

And reacting to Morocco’s impressive performance in Qatar, Sanusi posited that the Eagles can emulate it only if there is a conducive atmosphere to operate on.
“Morocco has done exceedingly well for Africa at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar,” Sanusi said on Brila FM.
“Nigeria is capable of doing likewise and even better if we have a peaceful atmosphere in which all stakeholders work towards a common, noble goal.”
Morocco will hope to make another history by becoming the first African country to play in the World Cup final when they face France on Wednesday.

Is you stop looking for cheap coaches to share salaries with and allow the players to be selected on Merit. All our national teams are full of Slot sellers it is disgusting.
And to think a good player will pay for slot is a tall order. Only the desperate players will pay money to be selected the Good ones will never bow to your nonsense in the NFF that is why Nigeria can almost find it impossible to reach the top any soon.
They don’t care about the game or the fans.
*If not Is
Dreamers! If only wishes were horses!
They think they can dream their way to success…lol. I laugh in Spanish.
Do they think that will be possible with the corrupt lot at the NFF? Or do they think Morroco achieved that by playing a Clubless captain in a crucial qualifier. Or is it the basket goal keepers we have in our ARSENAL. Sanusi must be a comedian!!!
Have they paid the coach’s over 6 months salary? How about the player’s bonuses?? What is the state of the league??
This is a delusional statement and it is of grandeur.
SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS CANNOT EMULATE MOROCCO’s WORLD CUP FEAT BECAUSE:
** (1). MOST OF THEM WERE SELECTED BY VIRTUES OF LUCK ( not by struggle/competition unlike b4 shorunmu, ojigwe, babangida, Akpoborie, oruma, ikpeba competing with Rufai,Oliseh,Finidi,Amokachi,OKOCHA, amuneke)
** (2). BRIBERY, CORRUPTION, SENTIMENT & QUOTA SYSTEM FROM NIGERIA LOCAL COACHES WILL NOT ALLOW NIGERIA TO ACHIEVE WORLD CUP SUCCESS. Unlike when Westerhof didn’t take any HAUSA players to Tunisia 94 AFCON & U.S.A ’94 W/cup and achieve success, which cannot be possible by LOCAL coaches.
** (3). SENTIMENT IN TEAM SELECTION WILL NOT MAKE EAGLE TO SUCCEED. You can imagine, Westerhof bench prince of Monaco, IKPEBA for local Africa league star, AMUNEKE( from Zamalek) in USA 94. Also, when World cup remain just two months,Westerhof drop the like of experience players: SEMITOJE, UGBADE for new comer of EMENALO, CHIDI-NWANU. And both of them justify their inclusion 100% even in first eleven (starting line-up) of the team. Which local Coaches (except Siasia dropping Mikel for Olympic & still reach final with good performance) in Nigeria can make the RISK and still justify his stand. NOBODY!!
Nigeria local Coaches always use players based on NAME, EGO,& EXPERIENCE (without form $ fitness)
**(4). MOST OF PRESENT SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS(except Iwobi & Osimhen, sorry for mentioning names) ARE NOT READY TO DIE(I mean fighting hard) ON THE FIELD, BY PLAYING WITH FULL COMMITMENT, AGGRESSIVENESS & DETERMINATION. ALL THIS CANNOT MAKE NIGERIA REACH A GREATER HEIGHT. It is determination & commitment make Nigeria team win against BRAZIL in 1996 from 3-1 down. But present Eagle like to play like CHICKEN on the field
@ TALK UR OWN, this is a nice contribution.
COACH PASEIRO, IF YOU TO SUCCEED WITH SUPER EAGLE, TRY TO PUT WHAT “TALK UR OWN” SAID INTO CONSIDERATION.
### MY ADVICE FOR JOSE PASEIRO ALSO###
@** Do not use players base on NAME, EGO OR EXPERIENCE(without form and fitness)
@** Work hand to hand with your Technical crews
@** Let the invitation of players base on merit
@** Don’t allow anybody FORCE/IMPOSE any players on you. Instead SCOUT for players & test them in Friendly matches
@** Invite local players that is ready to give foreign professional players a stiff competition(not the one to add to the number/surplus to requirements).
@** Always maintain your stand
@** Don’t allow anybody to be pushing you up and down.
@** Don’t be carried away with the club performance of players ONLY but base on PRESENT FORM & POTENTIAL
@** Do not tolerate INDISCIPLINE in to your team.
#** Do not invite players in order to pacify/please somebody (like local Coach Equavoen)
@** Encourage your players to be STRONG & MORE PHYSICAL when it comes to Africa football
@** Try to take advantage of newly introduced format: FIVE-SUBSTITUTION in a match(approved by CAF & FIFA) as an opportunity to test-run other players and MORE TECHNICAL in it.
@** Emphasize more on WING PLAY pattern for Super eagle
This Mohammed sanusi is one of the problems of Nigeria football for a long time
NFF, DEM NEVER LEAVE YOU?
THEY HAVE LEFT YOU BEHIND!
-paying for slot
-quota system
-sharing coaches salaries
-corruption
-sentiment
-poor or no motivation
-greed
-age cheating
-poor league
-indiscipline
-inferiority complex
All this will not allow it to be possible……You can not plant cassava and expecting to harvest yam…..rara
Not when you administrators are in bilateral cooperation with Bokoharams of this world…Not when you administrators are trying to islamize our football….
These ugly men at the NFF killed the beautiful game in Nigeria Now they want to copy Morocco
Mr Sanusi, you think Morocco got to the semi finals by picking boys from the street like we do in Nigeria. I sincerely believe that somebody like you is a round peg in a square hole, all of you that have ran our aground should quit and allow those with technical knowhow run our football from grassroot to admin level. You people took football out of school and today Nigeria a country of 200 million people have no grassroot development anywhere. If you guys don’t return football back to school, countries like Niger, Togo sierra Leone shall soon start denying Nigeria qualification f0r major tournaments. Can you reap without sowing?
