Former Super Eagles head coach Samson Siasia has explained why he feels Umar Sadiq is important for Nigeria in the future.
Sadiq made his debut for the Super Eagles at this year’s AFCON in Cameroon where he scored one goal in four games.
On Friday, he scored his ninth league goal in Almeria’s 2-0 home win against Ibiza in the Spanish second division.

And Siasia, who coached Sadiq at the Rio 2016 Olympics, explained some of the qualities that makes Sadiq a quality player.
“Umar Sadiq is a very brilliant player,” Siasia, told Omasports.
“As tall as he is, he’s the kind of player that knows how to create chances for himself.
“Look at how he played at the Afcon, played as a sub, scored a goal, and against Tunisia [in the last 16] he tried to create chances. That’s the kind of player that he is, that’s why I believe in him and took him to the Olympic Games in Brazil.
“Look at the goal he scored for Almeria against Ibiza, such a good goal. That’s the kind of player he is. He’s a player that’s very important for Nigeria in the future.”

Yeso, better than Awoniyi methinks.
Had Eguavoen gone with Dessers maybe we might have scaled through the Tunisian hurdle. By not doing his homework well, Nigeria could not progress.
Those who say Ighalo is over aged, can you see what Aboubacar did for Cameroun? He has several AFCON appearances.
We need Victor Moses because Chukwueze played below par at AFCON.
Watching Feyenoord vs Sparta on Espn 2. Decided to watch Okoye’s full game at club level and he never disappoints…. Chop 2 goals already in 12mins. Still watching…
Lol….. just 12 mins. I read some where on this platform, some fan was urging the handlers to continue with okoye; well …I hope the handlers do things differently. It is ok to fail as long as you are willing to learn from the experience and make amends. The SE handlers must be willing to do things differently if they are to arrive at a different outcome. To continue to do things exactly as it were and expecting a different outcome is defined as insanity. As a matter of urgency, we need to beam our search light across the globe to find a dependable gk.
There is no doubt, judging from the quality of football played , Nigeria is arguably the best team in the continent right now, we just need tweaks here and there and we would reign.
I guess you’re happy now. You decided to watch the game in hope that Okoye would concede goals so that you can rush here to announce and celebrate abi? Animal. I know you’re one of the people that have been sending death threats to him…Well continue celebrating the tough time Okoye is going through. Like it or not he’s your Nigerian brother. Later una go run go church dey pray miracle wey go take away your miseries and failures.
Every Goal Keeper concedes goals
Athletico Madrid goalkeeper conceded 4 goals today so every Goal Keeper concedes goals
Moffi did so well so far in the first half of his debut, score stands at Lorient 1 Lens 0 after 45 mins.
Mean’t to say Innocent Bonke not Moffi who has had a quiet game so far
I was contemplating between that game and Feyenoord’s game. Great to see that he’s doing well. Playing in the French league would give him better exposure.
Lol… The way you think says everything about you. Just so you know, we are all animals, so your useless insult is not having the desired effect. On the contrary, I was hoping for Okoye to shine. If you read my comment yesterday, I argued for Okoye to remain in goal bcos he’ll want to prove himself. Also, it’s feyenoord vs Sparta (Dessers vs Okoye), why won’t I watch it. The match started at 3:15am here so it’s one I’ve been following and woke up just to see it. Ur comment about church… Lol. You basically assumed everyone is religious….miracles??? Lmao…If u like don’t go and work hard be praying for miracles. I’ll leave u to it and won’t say much bcos I know what religion has done to u guys in Africa.
Update – it’s 4-0
Sorry, the above is directed to @jones
We need to go with the players who meet 2 or all 3 of the qualities mentioned by Eguavoen before AFCON, and the proven temperament in a top clash. Our strikers did not tick most of the boxes, in particular goals scoring ability although team play and pressing were okay in most matches. However, goals win matches. And we need more reliable right wingers. Maybe call a large squad and whittle down. Victor Moses if he still in form and is willing to play for the SE and also Amoo, although he has not been playing much since changing clubs this transfer window.
Definitely, the Adeleye goalkeeper should be invited. Okoye’s confidence seems diminished since Afcon, and the two other goalies have known limitations.
THE PROBLEM OF OUR LOCAL COACHES IS THAT THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE PLAYERS PROPER IN OTHER POSITIONS.
** IT IS UNDER SIASIA WE SEE THE BEST OF MIKEL( 2005 U-20 W/CUP).
** UNDER SIASIA, WE SEE THE BEST OF ETEBO (IN 2015 OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS, IN 2017 U-23 AFCON. U-23 OLYMPIC IN BRAZIL). IN BOTH OCCASION OF U-23 TEAM, ETEBO IS THE HIGHEST GOALSCORER FOR NIGERIA. EVEN WHEN ETEBO MADE HIS SUPER EAGLE DEBUT, HE SCORE HIS DEBUT GOAL UNDER SIASIA.
SIASIA KNOW HOW TO CONVERT PLAYERS FROM ONE POSITION TO ANOTHER. AND BRING BEST OUT OF PLAYERS.
** UNDER SIASIA, SADIQ UMAR PLAYED WELL, TO THE EXTENT THAT HE WAS SECOND BEST SCORER FOR 2016 U-23 OLYMPIC TEAM IN BRAZIL.
***APART FROM FANNY AMUN, AMUNEKE, SIASIA PRODUCED LAST LONGING FUTURE PLAYERS E.G MIKEL, TAIWO, OBASI, APAM,TROOST-EKONG,SHEHU ABUBAKAR.
BIG NUMBER 9 ON POINT. I KNOW WITH TIME YOU WILL COME GOOD IN THE NATIONAL TEAM.
IN MY OWN OPINION YOUR THE RIGHT BACK UP TO VICTOR OSIMHEN
Sadiq is not very important to super eagles.we will always try to lie out of sentiments.what did he play in the AFCON?This is usually the problem with local coaches-favouritism,ethnicity,tribalism etc
