Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has explained why Wilfred Ndidi was not in the Foxes starting eleven against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Ndidi was introduced in the 89th minute but could not inspire Leicester to a first league win of the season as they lost 2-1 to 10-man Chelsea.
Instead French midfielder Boubakary Soumaré got a starting shirt ahead of Ndidi.
And when asked why Ndidi did not start the game, Rodgers was quoted on BBC Sport Leicester :“We wanted to come through the pitch quicker. Soumare has been great in training and he’s committed now to staying at the club, which is great.

“He allows us to play through the thirds quickly and that was the reason for him coming in instead.”
Rodgers believed his side deserved at least a point from the game.
“We should’ve at least had a point in the game. We started well and had a man sent off. It was a game of decisive moments.
“We gave away the first goal which really makes it tough for you when you’re playing against 10 men and then we gave away the second.”
After four Premier League games so far this season Leicester are yet to secure a win.

This is the begining of Ndidi end with Leiceter City Club , so he must leave this club to other big one before transfere door closing; I recommend him to join PSG or Atletico Madrid or Arsenal.
Why not? That is how easy it is to walk into PSG, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona…..
I’ve always tried to tell Nigerians that the English reserve special discriminatory treatment for them. Jamaicans, Ghanaians are favoured above Nigerians. I’m not surprised that this coach has found an alternative African to Ndidi, he did the same for Iheanacho with Patson Daka who’s overhyped by the English media and hopeless compared to Iheanacho.
When a Nigerian misses a chance or makes a mistake their media highlight it in commentary by saying “…the Nigerian Iheanacho missed…” or “the Nigerian Ndidi loses the ball…”
They don’t like the fact of our intelligence and independent mind compared to other Africans. Like Iheanacho,it is time for Ndidi to move!
When Nigerian players make a good assist that leads to a goal or contributes substantially to a play sequence that leads to a goal. They would suddenly develop amnesia for his name. Last week I saw them to this to Eze assist for Zaha, this week Ejuke crossed and dribbled without any mention of his name, and I’ve seen it done consistently to Iheanacho.
I’ve never heard them say “…the Ghanaian Ayew” or “…the Ghanaian Partey”.
Maybe some of our players are overrated by our local press, why big teams are not bidding for Ndidi, maybe they see something we are not seeing.
I keep telling them SUNNYB they will say am always talking NEGATIVE…
There are some footballing skill in addition to that Ndidi’s position. But I am more than surprise that Ndidi is only much concerned about winning the ball only. His ball carrying, ball-driving, shooting and sublime passes are always very retard without visible improvement.
Ndidi would have made an upward move had it been he has or developed those assets mentioned above. I have been following and watching Alhassan Yusuf (Royal Antwerp), that guy possessed all the attributes mentioned above and if not this ending summer, Yusuf will surely make a big move to the top5 league. Like Yusuf, Raphael Onyedika is another guy with such attributes. Onyedika is a bomb waiting to explode very soon. I heard he is heading for Club brugge and that’s upward move for his career as they will be playing in the UCL this season.
If i am PESEIRO, I will be playing Ndidi along with Bassey in the CD so that there will be creativity in the midfield set up with the pairing of: Aribo-Yusuf-Iwobi.
Ndidi needs to develop his game to suit the modern defensive-midfield skills or better still revert back to his starting point Central-defence.
I swear se players are making dumb decisions. I think a max of 2 seasons ago when Vardy was injured Iheanacho filled in for him. He was scoring and even scored a hat trick. Thats when Leicester offered him a contract extension. That was the biggest mistake, I knew then. When your hot field for offers, just because you started scoring in a couple of games they wanted to tie him down. If you want to be a starter leave, some of these players only play the last couple of minutes in the game or when someone’s injured. Same thing happened with Eric Baily, he was playing when a teammate got injured. He then signed a new contract the man utd, next he was begging to start games but it was never given to him.
