Pep Guardiola has said he does not see himself as an option for the Brazil coaching job following Manchester City’s heavy defeat to Sporting Lisbon in Tuesday’s Champions League.
A hat-trick from Viktor Gyokeres and a strike from Maximilian Araujo saw City fall to a 4-1 defeat.
It was a third straight defeat for the Premier League champions after earlier losing to Tottenham and Bournemouth.
When quizzed about taking over the Brazil job, Guardiola laughed and went on to dismiss such links, expressing his desire to help City return to their brilliant best.
“After losing 4-1, I am no longer an option for Brazil,” Guardiola said via HaytersTV.
“More than ever, I want to lift up the team and return them to their top level.”
Last month, it was reported that it seems like Guardiola will sign a one-year contract extension at Manchester City.
It was also claimed that even in the event that City are found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations, Guardiola’s chances of putting pen to paper will be boosted further.
It was revealed in October that Manchester City would like his future resolved before the new year.
