Former Nigeria international Julius Aghahowa has said he has noticed some improvements in the Super Eagles attack since the appointment of Jose Peseiro.
The Eagles recorded their biggest ever win after hammering São Tomé and Principe 10-0 in Agadir, Morocco, on Monday.
Victor Osimhen netted four goals while the trio of Ademola Lookman, Emmanuel Dennis and Terem Moffi (who scored two goals) opened their goals accounts for the Eagles.
Following the win the Eagles, on six points, lead Group A after two games played.
And reacting to the big win against São Tomé, Aghahowa explained what he felt was lacking before in the team.
“It is very obvious that somethings have changed in the attacking lineup,” Aghahowa said on Brila FM.
“The final third which like I have always complained about like passes don’t get to the strikers, players don’t make runs behind the defenders.
“But against São Tomé, I saw a lot of runs from the midfielders and the wingers.“
The Eagles will return to action in the qualifiers in September when they will entertain Guinea-Bissau.

No doubt pesiro is good in reading d games n if u watch d matches SE ve played under his tutulage u will notice one thing d team tactical awareness, yeah they are not there yet but it’s certainly a sign of good things to come,my only prayer is the corrupt monguls in that there glass house will allow the man do his job in all honesty
God bless Nigeria
God bless SE
God bless d fans worldwide
Come and beat Ghana 10-0. You bullied that team, you could not score one goal to qualify for the World Cup. You can score 100 goals you won’t go to the World Cup….lol
Haters will worry till he pass away
Go and win the world cup for Africa let us hear word
World cup that we’ve gone to 6 times?
Take am easy my brother, make jealousy and bad belle no kill you.
You are crazying
You think your country will win wc? By the way i thought your gaynian team won SE by wide margin?is it not away goal rule?SHAME ON YOU.MTCHEEEEWWWWW
I agreed with you on that.
But do you know Nigeria have been to the WC b4 though? 6 times actually
So you that’s going to the WC now should be worried about how you are going to make Africa proud and not spending your time checking on Nigerian websites.
@Ralph, we have made Africa proud many times, remember 2006 and 2010? We beat the Czech Republic, then ranked no2 in the world 2-0, beat USA 2-1, ranked no 5 in the world. We beat Sebia and Drew with Australia, then ranked 15th and 20th, and almost made it to the semi finals but for Suarez in 2010. Even in 2014, when there was chaos within our camp because of bonuses, we were the only team to draw with the mighty Germans who were the eventual winners of that tournament, who whitewashed the Brazilians 7-1. If you are a follower of Ghanaian and African football, you will know Ghana have always punched above their weight in world football. Tell me which country in Africa has made such an impact on the world stage? What do you have as Nigerians to show for your 6 times appearance at the World Cup? Nothing! You just go there to add to numbers. So tell me, on the bases of my presentation, who deserves to be in the World Cup? You can beat São Tomé 10-0, and win the women afcon, you needed just one more goal to eliminate Ghana but couldn’t score. Ghana is going to the World Cup. And this World Cup is going to be the best ever with those stunning air conditioned stadiums! For now, accept we have the bragging right…lol. You can come back and insult me, I don’t care
Lol…guy, we are not interested in these google stories. Just leave this website and enjoy your own football too…abi, you guys played some games recently, go and start some analysis on the chances you have at Qatar. Una beat us, we don gree and honestly I hope u guys do well at the tournament. So, you should be more concerned about that, and if you are or not, don’t tell us abeg.
what a story to tell….Mumu…
Ghana has never been ranked within 10 before in the world sir
Ghana played a negative football in Nigeria, qualify on an away lucky goal after you embarrassed your generations in the nation’s cup? Ok
We shall see what miracle you gonna perform. You don’t Gyan again , one of the best African strikers.
Let’s see pigs fly, will never ever support Ghana ,. Even if you play against Russia
Anyone trying to convince these idiots called Yaw and Self-made about Nigeria is wasting his time. The truth is they won’t see anything good in us as long as its green white green. If Nigeria wins the WC today, they will come up eitj impossible reasons why we were luck to have won it. As a matter of fact, I know those in Ghana who will commit suicide seeing Nigeria win it. Even if we beat Brazil 10-0 you will hear stories from Ghana that Nigeria won because Neyman was sick. They must always come up with something to make us look very ordinary. It’s that bad. We won WAFU U20, God said we used ovee aged. If we win WAFU U17, it will still be the overage issue. We beat Sao Tome by the biggest margin ever. Ghana said the opponents are minor. Yet, they can’t beat CAR, another minor, in their backyard. If we qualify for AFCON, they will say its because the group is too weak. If we win the AFCON, it will be because referee favoured us. If we win the WC, it will because we were lucky. I can go on and on.
You see, your enemy can never be impressed with your success, no matter how hard you try. We should stop convincing them to see the good in us. They won’t and will never do.
Ghanaians have very short memories and are quite unappreciative. Nigeria is the reason Africa got five slots in FIFA WC. Up to 1990, it used to be 2 slots. The story changed after that wonderful performance in 1994. FIFA couldn’t help but add 2 more slots for Africa after evaluating our performance. It is from this well Ghana and other countries are still drawing from till today. And someone will come up here, and rant cos they have reached the WC’s 1/4. Would they have had the chance of participating not to talk of reaching the 1/4 if Nigeria hadn’t worked hard for thise extra slots?
Eguaveon really sold us to them. His mediocrity and Tactical ineptitude led us here. Otherwise, with the way played in both Kumasi and Abuja, and the array of stars at our disposal, a technically sound coach would have won the two legs so easily. Eguaveon is the reason Yaw and Self-made are mocking us this much. Our coaches should always take certain things into consideration before messing up their opportunities with the national team. But I know, this phase will pass and the light shall soon shine over Nigeria once again..
If Nigeria wins world cup, Ghanaman will say Nigerians were OVER-AGED.
@ Papafem, you can write a very good essay. I beg I want to remind you that CAR, the minnow, beat you at home. That can never happen to Ghana! And which “wonderful performance” are you talking about in ‘94? What is your best performance at the World Cup? You see how mediocre Nigerians are? Even Cameron and Senegal don’t talk this way. The real idiot is the one who thinks his national team has the birth right to the World Cup and swear to beat Ghana wotowoto and end up being caged in both games only to beat São Tomé 10-0 later. Hahahahahaha. Real definition of an Idiot. And stop blaming Eguavon entirely for your poor showing against Ghana. Ok, Eguavon deployed the wrong tactics, do you think your players gave of their best under the circumstance? Is the team which beat São Tomé so different? You the supporters must take some of the blame, you put too much pressure on your team. Stop talking like you are the best thing that happened to African football. I will always put Egypt, Cameron, Ghana wayyyy ahead of Nigeria. Waiting for another set of insults.
I think Ghana has a lot to worry about more than Nigeria. If it happened that we were the one that qualify for the world cup, we will be jubilating now, not knowing that we would be matching into failure. This is a blessing in disguise for us. And Ghana has a lot to worry about bcos I couldn’t remember if Ghana created any clear chance, the same thing the highlight of their match against Chile.
It’s better not to go to the world cup at all, than to be embarrassed. I’m sorry for Ghana in that group.
God is a God of time and season…. Your time to shine…. Come play Nigeria now.
Is world cup heaven? Must you go to every world cup? Nigeria has gone to the world cup both men and women in every category and even the Olympics more than ghana
Idiot! Is it not few days ago common Japan hammered your yeye team 4-1? It’s better you guys withdraw that your yeye team from WC as you are just going there to disgrace Africa in Qatar. Nonsense, look as the goat is talking as if their team beat SE with many goals, if not for the yeye away goal rule. The game should have gone extra time and SE would have beaten your ass.
Omo Ghana gerrout of here and go eat your banku with fish. Ok?
Playas gonna play and Haters gonna hate! Na wa ooo.. lol chai!my broda world cup is around the corner. Instead of you to worry about ghana not returning home early with big baskets of goals, you are here talking trash about the same lowly rated Sao Tome that you could only beat by 3 goals to 1. Guy dodge abeg make we see road. Na so una go dey drink panadol for another man headache.
Football is just a game. The winning can go either way. Always appreciate good suçcess and build up on failures.
For me, I can’t say anything has changed because of the result until we play a good team. We lost our two friendlies & got a scrapy
Exactly @ Benjamin
Yaw u are not ashamed of urself ,close those ur coloured and shakky teeth see how ur country messed up in the last naton cup, look at kettle…….
Yes my brother, let’s play more ranked teams in Africa before we can judge or conclude. Remember that’s how Rohr started before cabals in NNF glass house and some of us here killed his philosophy. We will keep on supporting our coaches no matter what. May God bless Nigeria
Nothing has changed. Lets stop fooling ourselves. Sao tome didn’t come out to play. Even the under 20 will defeat them. Until they start beating big name teams then we know if truly something has changed in the team. For now they are still in the shadows of Rorh and eguavoen
One thing you can’t take away from this coach is confidence to take the game to the opponent, exploring the SE attacking strength, that’s one thing Genort Rohr lack, even with the fact that he has what it takes to do a very good job with the team, buh he’s just too conservative. He allows his wing backs to overlap, one of the things that we lacked I the match against Ghana even though Eguavoen lack so many qualities. Talking about Pajero there are some positives from him buh it will be too early to fill over the moon. There should be more friendly matches for the team before world cup kick start
@Jide Dola….which world cup are you talking about?…that one we did not qualify for?
Nigeria couldn’t have scored against Ghana if not the VAR. At a point the Nigerian players themselves did not know what the referee was doing at the VAR machine, the Nigerian team were even surprise at the penalty decision. Ghana will be fully prepared and ready for any team at the World Cup. Black Stars!!!
The truth is Nigeria does not know how to play Ghana. Every time we play Ghana we change our style of play. Ghana’s style is a physical fast-moving style of play. Nigeria’s is a passing style of play. But when we face Ghana’s physical style we change our style because we see ourselves as Ghana’s big brother and want to show we can match Ghana roughness for roughness. Those who know how to play Ghana can easily beat them. You have to play Ghana by using their physicality against them; tempt them into fouls until they’re reduced in numbers by sending-offs.
Never try to match Ghana in their physical style. You will see in the WC against a team like Uruguay when they start falling over for fouls against Ghana. Even Japan did this against Ghana and resulted a 4-1 thrashing.
The lesson Nigeria should learn when playing a team like Ghana is “Never fight physically with Ghana. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.'”
U don’t know shit about football
Nigeria is fast moving and physical and Ghana is the slick technical type of play!
Ghana is the most TECHNICALLY GIFTED TEAM IN AFRICA and no one can take that away from us!!
We dominated in the midfield against u and that’s how it ll always be
You dominated in midfield because of your physical aggression, not skill. Nigeria has always had the more skillful ball players – either passers or dribblers, than Ghana. After the first leg, all the Nigerian midfielders had injuries. In the final game, we were using a right-back as a midfielder because we’d run out of midfielders thru injuries by Ghana. Not that I blame Ghana, that was Eguavoen’s fault for loading his squad with forwards instead of midfielders.
Ghana are not a rough physical team?
Ghana (2Y 1R) v Chile (3Y) -> (2Y 1R) = 2 yellow cards 1 red card
Ghana (2Y) v Japan(1Y)
Ghana (1Y) v Nigeria (1Y)
Nigeria (1Y) v Ghana (4Y)
Gabon (3Y) v Ghana (4Y 1R)
Ghana (1Y 1R) v Comoros (1Y)
Morocco (1Y) v Ghana (2Y)
Ghana (2Y) v S. Africa (2Y)
In the last 10 games only one Nigerian has been sent off while 3 Ghanaians have been sent off. Ghana consistently gets more yellow cards than any team they play.
Is it not the same VAR that came to Ghana’s rescue when Osimhen rounded your goalie and slotted the ball into your net? Without VAR, that offside was too close to call, and the goal would have stood. So the VAR you are complaining about actually saved you on that day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDV-ezvvDuw
@pompei, you didn’t need var to see your striker was miles offside. Every Nigeria who is honest knows that your penalty against ghana was not a penalty. Idah even admitted on dstv. The referee saved your asses
@Yaw i just discovered you were still a toddler or not yet born in 1994. When elders are talking just keep quiet and listen ok
@Yaw, you were talking about being being rank after beating Serbia, USA or drawing Australia in 2006 world cup. Let me let you know that Ghana has never being rank by fifa in the top 10 before, while Nigeria has been to the top 10 twice, Nigeria was rank 5th in the world immediately after the 1994 world cup in USA. Apart from Nigeria being rank 5th in the world, no any other African country has ever being rank in the top 7 in world rankings
The NFF should use the next Fifa window to arrange a match against a top side to better rate rhe present coach Sao Tome is not it all. Let’s tango France, Germany or Croatia for effizy.
The NFF should use the next Fifa window to arrange a match against a top side to better rate the present coach. Sao Tome is not it all.. Let’s tango France, Germany or Croatia for effizy.
Football is all about the latest performance. All these old players and NFF men praising the new coach are the very same people who will stab him and push into a grave at the slightest mistake. That’s what they did to Stephen Keshi and Gernot Rohr.
Is a good win for super eagles and am happy we scored 10 goals to nil, at least setting an African record. Soa Tome has played teams in close ranking to eagles but played GG, scored up to 2 goals and never consumed 10 goals in their net. So those trying to play down the game should not put much energy on it.
But there is nothing special to feel over the moon yet, is Sao Tome any way and not Ghana, south Africa, Mali or small strength teams like Benin, Garbon, Congo etc. To me am not yet over the miss of world cup because we had no business staying away from Qatar after toping a qualifying stage group just to lose disgracingly to a poor Ghanian team in a play off match played on home soil. Just because of the cluelessness of Dare, pinnick and sentimental fans.
To me we need more serious friendlies to access the coach and team before the continuety of qualification in September. Even if we can’t secure it outside, we can get friendlies with quality African teams or Asian teams.
To the Ghanians making noise in a Nigerian platform, your level of inferiority amuse me. Is it not better you guys focus on your team so that you don’t lose all the three matches in group stage. Because as it stands now that’s what may happen if you keep on neglecting your duties just to make noise here about a poor Ghanian team.
Up Up Super eagles.
Nothing for pesiero yet till he really proof he is better than Rohr.
Are you talking about the poor ghana team you couldn’t beat? Then your team is poorest!…lol. you can only Bully sao tome. If you couldn’t beat the “poor” ghana, what business did you have going to Qatar? And I’m glad you used “may”, meaning you are not certain ghana will lose all three game, you sounded like a jealous wife…lol. I can feel your pain and we are not leaving this page anytime soon until you apologise to Ghanaians for the disrespectful utterances; “we will beat them wotowoto”, “we will beat the hell out of them” etc. We have the bragging right now and you cannot begrudge us. You can call it inferiority whatever but we know who is inferior in football currently…lol. we are off to the world cup, continue playing sao tome…hahahahahaha.
Same time Ghana struggle to beat at away. When last did your lovely team with up to 4 goals margin. See the little past record

I have the feeling you and Selfmade aren’t Ghanaians.
Apparently, you are one of us in this forum using different alia’s.
You and Selfmade are one person a Nigerian,a member of this forum who is bitter for Nigerian elimination from Qatar, the idea is to feel Ghanaian this way to help heal the disappointment, the anguish, torment and hurt of missing out of the world cup.
The clash against Nigerians is just is a way to psychologically feel Ghanaian, heal the wound as well have a bit of fun.
I personally do not take you guys seriously.
Things happens for a reason.Had Rohr remained as our manager I believe we would be better off today, his barbarous sack led to our misfortunes.
But it looks like the retributions we suffered lately is over and we are in for better days ahead.
Ghana will make Africa proud. The Black Stars are great. The World Cup is for Big Boys, Ghana earned it
Let’s all support the Black Stars. They do present Africa better. Black Stars!!!
No need to hate. The Black Stars are amazing. Remember they whip Nigeria 7-0 before oo
Yaw,
If you like, you can “upgrade” Osimhen’s offside from MILES to LIGHT YEARS.
In fact, he was so offside, he was outside the pitch. Na you sabi.
Be there deceiving yourself. Osimhen was just marginally offside. Without VAR, that goal would have stood.
The penalty was a clear penalty. If you have a problem with it, go and stalk the ref to his personal residence. If not for the many chances we missed, we would not have even needed the penalty. And of course, the fluke goal Partey scored, which was a huge howler from our goalie, had no business entering our net. 9 times out of 10, that shot would have been saved. So the reality is Ghana was EXTREMELY FORTUNATE on the day. It happens.
With a better coach and a competent NFF, Nigeria would be going to Qatar and not Ghana. It’s amazing how fortunate Ghana was in that crucial encounter. Football is a game of fine margins. An inch can mean the difference between winning and losing, and when the dice was rolled, it favoured Ghana this time. We accept it, and have moved on.
@pompei you are a joke. Are you testing hypothesis with your “should have”, “would have” and all the assumptions? Thank God you accept your striker was offside irrespective of margins. And did you call Partey’s goal a fluke? Oh my man, as a football fan, you should know worst goals have been scored and a lot of goals are scored because of goalkeepers error. It’s part of the game so don’t discredit it. Yes, I agree football is a game of fine margins but you have to make the margin count in your favour. But for Suarez perhaps ghana would have been a world cup winner…let me also use some of your assumptions, after all we are all allowed to assume. You can score 20-0 against very weak oppositions in Africa, tickle yourself and laugh. Ghana is playing in the real world cup in Qatar. God bless my homeland Ghana and make my nation great and strong!
Yaws,
Your name is a chronic skin infection. That is why you come here to talk out of your anus. You are indeed sick. Do you want to kill yourself because Nigeria had a good outing?
Instead of you to be making preparations on how you will carry all the goals you will concede back to Accra, you’re here parambulating.
Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea will strip you naked at the mundial.
Na wotowoto for you! Hahahaha!
Deem stars will lose 3 matches this i have seen. Deem stars 1-Japan 4
The same Sao Tome that Ghana could only beat them 3-1 in Ghana and 1-0 away in the previous afcon qualifiers. The likes of yaw, selfmade coming to our sites to post robish about our team and country
If Yaws could do it, he would take our 6 previous world cup appearances away from us.
And our Olympic gold and silver medals.
The man is dying with jealousy. Make bad belle no kill am ooo.
I don’t remember adding “s” to my name. My name is Yaw. Same wotowoto you used to “beat” ghana?…We will handle our group opponents easily and the haters will remain in their rooms.
CR7, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix, Edison Cavani, Luis Suarez (Ghana BFF), Heung-Min Son, and other strikers are eagerly waiting for matchday, ready to use Ghana to wipe the floor. Your mediocre, lacklustre, boring squad will receive wotowoto in excess.
Hahahaha!
Amartey, djiku, partey, kudus, nketiah, inaki,Lamptey etc are waiting patiently for them. I’m sure you remember what kudus did to your super chicken
@Yaw, any error you see in the write up above is basically typographical. It’s got nothing with being able ro write well. Stuffs like that are common if you use phone to drop comments cos of the tiny keypad. And CSN has disabled the edit button, so no one can correct errors in what’s written. We will still drop messages anyways. If you notice any
error in the writing, which is common even ro the best of writers here, then deal with it. And if you can’t, then skip the comment. And I hope you got the message above. You are a pathetic hater of anything Nigerian. And of our course, our success won’t impress you. We ain’t impressed by Ghana’s success either. After all, they are only in the WC to make up the numbers. The generation of Black Stars that can make an impact is gone and gone for ever.
Well noted Papafem. I don’t hate Nigerians bro. I respect you guys as my big brother but pls you guys talk too much when it comes to football. You are nowhere near where you claim to be. What have you achieved in world football at the senior level to make you think when you meet Ghana, you will beat them wotowoto or beat the hell out of them? How many afcons have you won? What’s your best performance at the World Cup? So you see, you don’t talk like the World Cup is your birthright.
Yaw die with your rile and rage , Ghana haven’t Super Eagles quality, can Ghana score these ten goals in a tiny team? Ghana forward waste many goals they elicit in many matches just in last Afcon. in Cameroon and World Cup qualification; Ghana lack quality forwards who have box to box trait, but SE have many forwards like genius Osimhen, Dessers, Sadiq Umar, Terem Moffi, Simon Moses, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Smauel Chukwueze, Emmanuel Dennis and so on; but you have nothing, in comming World Cup final how can you deal with great teams, can your attackers score goals , in last friendly match versus Japan Ghana disclosed their genitalia to public opinion that means they can’t deal with World Cup matches so much, I think they will return back without any positive results.
Boss Tia, what happened to all these fantastic attackers when you played Ghana? Guess they were on holidays in those two matches. All I’m saying is your attackers can be assessed properly when you play crack teams in africa not some micky mouse teams. And those friendly games in Japan were used to try some fringe players ahead of the world cup. It will not have any impact at all on the games at the world cup. Be assured Ghana will represent Africa better than Nigeria as always. Cheers!
It is a big shame that the main topic under this thread is completely ignored all because the Ghanaians decided to kill the topic. It is unvilified and unethical to ruin the main thread with baseless arguments over unrelated and useless issues. We Nigerians should keep away from their posts and allow them to continue talking to themselves.
What Aghahowa said made a lot of sense. l am very happy to read his opinion and observations of the new coach’s tactics. If this new coach philosophy is fully developed and continue to be implemented, other African Nations will surely take notice when facing Nigeria. 10 to zero is a record by any standard. Kudos to the coach.
