Burnley star Ashley Westwood wants to carry his good form to next season after picking up the club’s Player of the Year gong.
The former Aston Villa man has established himself as an indispensable member of Sean Dyche’s squad as they have steered themselves to safety after a rocky first half of the campaign.
He has started 30 league matches this season having been a bit-part player since his move from Villa Park for an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old says he was humbled to win the award and hopes he can use it as a springboard for next season, as Burnley go into their fourth consecutive top flight season. “They’re special awards.

I never expected it and to have the lads and the fans voting for me is a great honour,” said Westwood. “I am very proud to collect these awards and I can’t thank the players and the fans enough. “For me, it’s the best season I’ve ever had and that’s down to the lads and the staff. “I want to kick on and now do even better in a claret shirt.”
