UEFA’s new club coefficient standings sees West Ham listed above Arsenal, with Manchester City holding onto top spot.
According to talkSPORT, UEFA released their annual standings which influence seedings in draws for its club competitions, with points earned based on continental performances via a weighted algorithm.
UEFA then takes results over the previous four seasons, coupled with the home associations coefficient, to calculate club rankings.
Therefore, ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, the standings are taken from performances from the 2020/21 season onwards.
Premier League champions Manchester City took top spot for a second-successive season, with Champions League winners Real Madrid climbing up to second place.
Bayern Munich’s run to the Champions League semi-finals sees them take third place while 2022 finalists Liverpool are fourth.
Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, Villarreal, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Inter make up the remaining clubs in the top ten, while Manchester United sit in 14th spot.
But perhaps the biggest surprise is West Ham’s 16th-placed ranking, which puts them ahead of LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid (17th) and Barcelona (18th) and Premier League rivals Arsenal (19th).
The Irons have been rewarded for their recent European exploits, having lifted the Europa Conference League trophy in the 2022/23 campaign and then reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season.
