Club Brugge forward Wesley Moraes would reportedly prefer a move to Newcastle despite being tipped to join Serie A giants Lazio. The Brazil international has spent the last four seasons in Belgium, enjoying his most productive campaign to date during the 2018-19 campaign, as he scored 17 goals across all competitions.

That form has led to speculation regarding Wesley’s future at the Jan Breydel Stadium, with Lazio having been linked with an €18million swoop, with some reports even suggesting the Biancocelesti were close to wrapping up the transfer.
However, Newcastle are also said to be interested and it is believed the 22-year-old would prefer a move to St James’ Park but only if Rafael Benitez remains as manager.
Speculation continues to mount regarding Benitez’s future on Tyneside, as he remains locked in talks over a new contract, although the uncertainty surrounding the proposed takeover of the club is delaying any progress. Newcastle will want to get things sorted quickly or risk missing out on Wesley, as well as some of their other transfer targets.
