AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has expressed satisfaction with Samuel Chukwueze’s performance in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle United.
Chukwueze made his first start for the former European champions in the 0-0 draw at the San Siro.
The Nigeria international didn’t make much impact in the game.
The 24-year-old was replaced by Christian Pulisic a minute after the hour mark.

Pioli however defended Chukwueze and insisted the winger did well in the game.
” I want Samu to be very open, he was used to cutting a lot inside the pitch. The idea in Newcastle’s first half was to target a full-back with another pass, in the first half we didn’t make much use of him, then I put Pulisic on. But we’re satisfied of his performance,”Pioli was quoted by Football Italia.
The 24-year-old is yet to record a goal or assist for the Rooseneri in five appearances across all competitions since his summer arrival from LaLiga club, Villarreal.
AC Milan will face Hellas Verona in their next Serie A clash on Sunday.
Pioli’s side will be hoping to banish the memories of last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of city rivals Inter Milan.

Samu is a terrific player, he will blend in time to make an impact soon. Nigeria expects him to do very well also in AFCON in January next year.
He will be an even better player if he can train extra to get his right foot decent on the ball… If a player like Lionel Messi can get it done, I see no reason why Chukwueze cannot… a player who can use both feet decently will always have more efficiency in tight situations and overall usage of the ball.
Which is why Emmanuel Dennis is far better than Chukwueze
