Cape Verde coach, Bubista, is confident that the Blue Sharks have the quality needed to defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Tuesday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group C match at the Estadio Aderito Sena in Mindelo, Completesports.com repors.
Bubista (full name: Pedro Leitoo Brito), a former national team defender and captain who was appointed the Blue Sharks coach in January 2020 is looking to make a huge success of his job by leading the team to Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, and he is urging his players’ self-belief to fight and bag the maximum points against the Super Eagles in Mindelo.
Cape Verde are currently second, behind Nigeria in the Group C table after securing a 1-1 away draw against Central African Republic on matchday-1, while the Super Eagles won 2-0 at home against Liberia.
Julio Tavares scored in the 36th minute for the Blue Sharks at CAR’s makeshift home ground, Stade Omnisport de Douala Cameroon last week Wednesday. Trevor Toropite equalised for CAR in the 53rd minute. Busbista and his players are very wary of dropping points at home and letting the Super Eagles open up wider gap as the Group C leader.

“We know the quality of Nigeria, but we’ve been evolving as a team and our team takes the field always with the spirit of victory. Nowadays our players feel that when they enter the field they will fight equal to equal with any team,” Bubista said in a post on FCF Instagram page.
Cape Verde captain, Lanique Dos Santos Tavares, a.k.a Stopira, a left-back who plays his club football for Hungarian top league side side, Fehervar FC, says the player feels motivated to fight and win, especially for their fans who have been barred from Estadio Aderito Sena for the match due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“It’s too bad, we wanted the fans in the stadium but unfortunately it’s not a decision that depends on us, but we’ve been feeling affection from the supporters and that’s rewarding and that gives us confidence,” Stopira stated on the FCF (Federacao Cabo-Verdiana De Futebol) Instagram page.

KV Oostende midfieder, Kenny Rocha Santos said: “We’re preparing
well for the next game. We know Nigeria is a great team but we also have our quality.”
Portugues- born Cape Verdean left-back, Henrique Brito, who plays for Portuguese Liga 3 side, Felgueiras, is also in cocky mood ahead of the Blue Sharks’ clash with the Super Eagles.
“We know that the fans of Saoo Vicente is with us and we will do everything to give them victory,” said Brito who was called up for the first time for Cape Varde’s September matches against CAR and Nigeria.

Liberia said more stuff than the Cape verdians especially their diarrhea running mouth coach. This is world cup qualifiers Fifa will not make money with Cape verde in attendance at the mundial but Nigeria is always a cash out machine for them.
(Victory Spirit) nothing wey we no go hear for Africa.
No mind dem bro no be only victory spirit na loosers angel dem 4 come with…watching Togo March right now sincerely speaking Nigerians football fans and super eagles team deserve more than what NFF/Governments giving us…it’s a big shame…shit hole pitch, live transmission Zero absolutely annoying
From the pictures above I only see over weight men with fat issues…..I see old players who SE players will run rings around with ease…… Only their fans would have helped them Abit but thank God that has been settled (no fans in attendance)…… No hidding place for cape Verde.
I like the confidence of the coach, but I also feel sad that a national team parading division3 players can be this confident against Super Eagles Of Nigeria. I have seen how they beat Cameroon before but this present team doesn’t look great as that old CapeVerde, so the Super Eagles should win the game with all seriousness.
I am happy that you guys are going to come out to play…. That’s very good good for Nigerian players.
Una go chop goals like akara. Iheanacho has done his part and left the remaining job for Osimehn, moffi and onuachu to finish it up and these aforementioned guys are more than capable to do so..
Can’t wait for Lookman to be added to this team make Algeria come again na…
Thank you @Chima my friend.
Can someone please explain to me why Ola Ain returned to Italy when he is not an English based player and the likes of Osimehn and the Bologna guy stayed behind. I’m quite sure Italian clubs don’t have that red zone nonsense the British league stipulates.
God bless Nigeria
Talk is cheap. Nice to be back here after a long time.
The real test for super Eagles will come on Tuesday against the blue sharks, Cape Verde match will separate the boys from the men, to some of us the doubters let’s wait till Tuesday. For me I still ve my reservations about this team, but Tuesday will present me the opportunity to truly assess them.
I will remain humble as one of the patriotic Nigerians.
I have been watching football for a while and I can tell from my experience.
We have the players to win the world cup ticket for Nigeria but to use these players to achieve what Africa have never accomplished is what is drawing our football backward.
Confidence is part of anything meaningful to every human being but Super Eagles coaches are far from that.
Over Confidence is not good for no one but this our Coaches have a very huge task to do against Cape Verde on Tuesday.
Kai, we read what Oga Rohr said after the match on Friday. He have no confidence in his team most especially the team he’s taking to Cape Verde.
The late subs that we have been complaining about also happened against Liberia so, what should Nigerians expect from that coach on Tuesday? I love my country and Super Eagles is our darling team so, I wish Eagles good luck.
I remain humble and hopeful. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
@Omonja, I still don’t understand ur wailing abt early/late subs. You doubted Rohrs ability to win d match and that he has silenced you with a convincing win despite all the odds. Why do u have to change players unnecessary when tbose on pitch are getting d job done. Benitez didn’t make a single sub when Chelsea defeated Benfica to win d Europa League in 2013. Immediately Musa and Baogun were sub’s against S/Leone in Benin, what happened? So oga, go and calm down.
