Andre Ayew believes that the Black Stars can surprise the Super Eagles with favourable result in the return leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification playoffs despite playing a draw in Kumasi.
The Ghanaians huffed and puffed on Friday night in the first leg of their World Cup playoffs against Nigeria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, but the match ended in a goalless draw.
With the return leg set to take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in the Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Tursday March 29, Ayew who was at the Stadium on Friday believes Ghana can still qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
“If you ask me, I am happy with the result. I would say yes because football has changed a lot and I know for sure that we can go to Nigeria and surprise them,” Ayew told reporters in Kumasi immediately after the Friday’s match.

“As far as I am concerned, I am very much optimistic that the Black Stars can make it to the World Cup in Qatar.
“I also know that Nigeria’s home record is not really good. I also believe that the Super Eagles will be under a lot of pressure in Abuja on Tuesday particularly as they could not score against us.
“But I am a bit disappointed in our fans, yes, they came in their numbers but then, they were not really on top of their voices to support the Black Stars, I think they wanted to see the team score first but overall, I hail our fans.”
Ayew did not feature against Nigeria on Friday as a result of suspension from the red card which he received during Ghana’s 3-2 defeat to Comoros in their last group game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The chickens has a bunch of untalented, overrated and overhyped chickens!!
Huffed and puffed? This BOKOM reporter was probably high or didn’t watched the match because NEPA cruelly took hi s lights and hence he is relying on some cheap FM commentary to filed this report haha
Very soon Csn will start employing Ghanaians to give their audience proper reportage llol
Ei…lol. you no dey sleep?
Your small mind probably thinks you will come over here and run like headless turkeys like you did in Kumasi. We sat a bit deep knowing your immature players would come with their gra gra to impress gullible fans like you. I saw in Ghana, players running faster than the ball. LOL. I saw their Ayew playing like small pikin, blasting shots high into the stands when he could have easily picked out his team mates. All I saw yesterday were some youths full of running and nothing more.
Even your over hyped Partey was missing in action. The only department that impressed a bit in that match was the defence, with the maturity of Djiku, Amartey, Denis and the other guy. Others were just bundles of restless bones and muscles.
Please come with your gra gra again to Abuja. E go shock you. You lost the chance of winning this play off yesterday. You thought we will be playing in Lagos with the terrible pitch that made us shaky in those home matches your captain referred to. Please eat well that day because you’ll surely lose your strength after match.
U mentally deranged!! Hollow comments!!
How can a player run faster than a ball if there wasn’t a ball? Haha
I told u, u have an IQ comparable to a caged baboon haha
U wife ll cheat on u every day because of ur small iq lol
Stupid goat calling himself Self-made. He’s so daft not to know that”faster than the ball” is a figurative depiction of unorganised, empty movements of their players on the field of play. See how this notorious riff-raff took it literally. I thought Ghanaians are smarter than this. A pot calling kettle black
Enough of these childish comments. Winning or losing against Ghana will not feed the 300M plus population in Naija nor the 31M in Ghana or small Ghana as you normally reference Ghana.
With bribery anything is possible, some goat head will sell Nigeria out including the coaches never trust them. The starters on Tuesday will confirm my conspiracy theory.
Well he has to say this as captain to motivate his team. And to be fair to him, Modern football have changed.Home advantage don’t count much this days.Cameroun and Mali lost at home, DRC just managed to survive Morroco.Italy lost at home to North Macedonia.
True also is that we will be more under pressure to score as only a win will guarantee our passage.Ghana will go through on a score draw.
But that said, the Ghana team we saw yesterday cannot beat the super Eagles in abuja, No way.We will beat them 2-0.What is Ghana recent records of wins in Nigeria.
In the match yesterday, we were the away team and there was some level of conservativeness in our approach.Ghana will not have that privilege in the return leg.At a point, we played with two defensive midfielders in Etebo and Onyeka.
So it is a must win game for us on Tuesday
U ll have to open up and score and judging by the technical dexterity of the Ghanaian midfielders, they ll carve Nigeria open when they push for a goal
Mark this down
Like they carved us open in Kumasi and pomped 10 goals into our net
right? LMAO….
Your best efforts were two fruitless shots at goal even with your running up and down like untrained soldiers in the line of battle. You’ll have no excuse on Tuesday, ugly pit bull.
@ papafem…. I really love your response. Up Super Eagles
@Dr Banks
There is still away go rule o!!!!!!!
I have checked so many media outlet. All were saying away goal rule count.
