Ghana assistant coach, George Boateng, has claimed that the Ghanaian technical crew is yet to contact Black Stars legend, Asamoah Gyan about the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
This year’s World Cup will be held in the Middle East for the first time between November 20 and December 18.
Gyan earlier in an interview with the BBC said he would want to play in the forthcoming World Cup.
“Anything can happen, it has happened before in 1994, when Roger Milla came back from retirement to play in the World Cup,” Gyan said.
And commenting on the possibility of Gyan featuring for the Black Stars in Qatar, Boateng said in an interview with Citi Sports Online.
“Out of respect for the player (Gyan) and as a friend of mine as a person, I would prefer to discuss the issue with him in person, rather than share (it) with the outside world,” Boateng said.
“We haven’t spoken to Gyan yet, so we will not disclose anything until we have spoken to the player himself.
“We as staff have so much respect for Gyan . As a player and person he is a very good friend of mine, and what he has done for Ghana is amazing.
“Top goalscorer, six goals at the World Cup, it’s amazing. You can only applaud his achievement.”
Gyan is Ghana’s highest goalscorer of all time with 51 goals in 109 games.
The Black Stars are in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

Can CSN consider renaming their site? I suggest CSG. This will assuage the assault on our sensibility with Ghanaian news. At least we’d know what we’re dealing with.
These chaps have inflicted (or rather NFF has permitted them to inflict) too much damage to my nerves!
Are you the owner of csn? Who are you to determine what story they decide to write? Why don’t you make the same statement when they write about Senegal or Cameroon? So because we have beaten you and “inflicted” pain on you, csn should stop writing about ghana? What logic is this? So csn should stop writing about any country that beats Nigeria? Boss, pls I think you should go back to bed, you didn’t sleep well.
Yaw, it’s not your fault. If you must know the truth, I am a pan Africanist. I have devoured most works of Kwame Nkrumah and many other Africanists. But I am a fan of the SE! If that is a weakness, forgive me. I queue behind Ghana as they go to Qatar.
Good luck.
You are my man @KangA. One love!
Nigeria was a failure and she did not deserve to go to the world cup. My African teams are Ghana and Cameroon. Please do not hate Ghana for eliminating us from the world cup, Blame Pinnick and his rubber stamp NNF board.
Blame Dare not Pinnick who had no choice
CSN are happy Ghanaians like their stuff, hence adding Ghanaian content. They appreciate Ghanaians contributions in the comments section
Lol u right!! If Ghanaians get to know this site, this site is going to be the one site in AFRICA with a lot of traffic lol
