Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu is on the verge of departing Bordeaux for struggling Premier League side Watford after a deal, understood to be in the region of £2.5million, was agreed.
Kalu is set to undergo a medical at London Colney this morning before putting pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
According to club sources, Watford initially played down links to the winger, saying that attack was not an area they were looking to bolster this window.

However, the opportunity to move now and sign someone they have been tracking for some time, for what they consider to be a good price, has changed their minds, especially after they managed to identify and secure defensive targets early on.

The 24-year-old shares an agent with current on-loan Watford player Peter Etebo, but is not part of the Nigerian African Cup of Nations squad, so will be available as soon as he is registered, despite having 17 caps for the Super Eagles.
He has scored ten goals and provided 8 assists from 86 appearances for the Ligue 1 side. He has also represented KAA Gent and AS Trencin.
If Kalu’s transfer eventually goes through, he will bring the number of Nigerians at the club to seven.
Other Nigerians already signed to the club are Emmanuel Dennis, Etebo, Okoye Maduka, Williams Troost-Ekong, Dapo Mebude and Tom Dele-Bashiru.

We shd just call watford second SE, good move kalu at least to relaunch your career, we will not because of that big head Dennis and old man Ranieri stop supporting watford, pray the team escape relegation though very hard.
While it may not be a wrong move, it may not also be too good for our national team.
We now have Denis, Ekong, Etebo, Dele Bashiru and now Kalu. In a situation where we need all of them for national assign and at the same time, the team also needs their service. That’s the point I want us to.look at.
Exactly, because one will hinder another playing time and I’m not sure kalu can stand the intensity that come with playing in the epl if he struggle to do that in Ligue 1.
Nice move Kalu and I have no doubt in my mind that you will make it in premier league…….Kalu has all the qualities to succeed in the EPL…….Pace ,stamina ,dribbling skills and very good spacial awareness…….. You guys see why I was angry at those fans who where happy that Watford will get relegated because Dennis didn’t turn up for Afcon?……. Imagine this huge chunk of our national team banished to the English second tier……..That would be a disaster for the national team and it will affect the performance of the team as a whole…….#watfordmuststayup
Same I don’t understand why sometimes I wish she was supposed to be relegated that’s why I’m saying if Watford is relegated Dennis won’t go down but the rest will surely go down. @Watfordmuststayup
Mistake what I meant is that I don’t understand why some people are saying Watford to be relegated, both ranieri and Dennis will leave. They would sack ranieri and Dennis will go to another club. Do let’s wish them to stay up, I hate ranieri sef because he collect captain badge from ekong and gave it to sissoko I knew muniox wanted to give ekong the badge but wasn’t sure because of Ben Forster seniority and he was going to give it to ekong because bachmann was his first goalkeeper. Before I wanted bachmann to continue but now that okoye is going there bachmann should stay in the bench or find a new club
What I meant was, and on the bench
But complete sports are funny o, they didn’t even change it this is exactly how it was reported on the “Watford observer” a local newspaper in Watford. Lol,just a joke o
And again dapo mabude is not a Nigerian nationally he only has Nigerian lineage but he chose to represent Scotland
