Wigan will be desperate to bounce back when they face Salford for a place in the Grand Final, according to Liam Farrell. The Lancashire outfit were beaten 40-10 by St Helens in the semi-finals last week and now have another opportunity to reach the Grand Final.

Wigan host Salford, who they beat in the Qualifying Final last month, on Friday, with the winner guaranteed to face Saints in the Old Trafford showpiece. Farrell admits the heavy defeat to Saints wasn’t in the script although he feels it could work as a wake-up call for Adrian Lam’s side. “I think Saints turned up with an attitude that they wanted it more than us and ran harder and defended better than us,” Farrell said.
“It was tough to take because this club prides itself on those kinds of things, but we’ve got a second chance this weekend to put things right and there’s no bigger test than coming up against third in the league in Salford, who have done outstandingly well this year. “It could be a blessing in disguise to have that sort of defeat to Saints. It will give us extra motivation for this weekend and it gives us that kick to push ourselves even more.”
