Neil Warnock is still waiting to see if striker Callum Paterson will be fit for Cardiff’s Premier League visit of Chelsea on Sunday. The Bluebirds boss was handed an injury scare during the international break when Paterson, who has scored four goals in 27 Premier League games to date, suffered an ankle injury in Scotland’s 2-0 Euro 2020 qualifier win in San Marino on Sunday.

Paterson limped off just after the half-hour mark and returned to Cardiff for treatment earlier in the week. The 24-year-old has since been working with Cardiff’s medical staff and Warnock is likely to give him as long as possible to prove his fitness ahead of the game against Maurizio Sarri’s side at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A win for the Bluebirds could take them out of the relegation places, depending on how Burnley and Southampton get on in Saturday’s fixtures. Therefore, Warnock will be desperate to have one of his key men available for the game against the Blues.
