Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse says he is determined to finish what has been an “up and down” campaign on a high. The 24-year-old has played an important role in helping the south-coast outfit avoid the drop down to the Championship this season, after earning the trust of manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Ward-Prowse has admitted it has not all been plain sailing but is happy with his contribution and hopes his side can finish the season on a high against Huddersfield Town on Sunday. “It’s been such an up-and-down season but, from Christmas onwards, it’s been nothing but positive and I’ve enjoyed probably my most favourable moments and run in the team,” he told The Echo.
“It has been a massive turnaround which is partly down to the manager and partly down to me. I need to go and show that I should be in the team. I am finishing on a high for sure.”
