Trainer Ed Walker is looking forward to Wednesday’s Epsom meeting as Cap Francais runs in the Investec Blue Riband Trial. The winner of Wednesday’s Listed race receives a wildcard entry into the Investec Derby, if not already entered, and Cap Francais goes into the race on the back of some impressive performances.

Walker’s charge finished second at Newbury in the Don Deadman Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes on debut before racking up back-to-back victories at Salisbury and Haydock Park in September last year. The three-year-old now has a stiffer challenge at the Epsom track but Walker is confident Cap Francais will put in a strong performance.
“He is a very well-balanced horse – and while Epsom is a very unique track, I am hopeful that he will cope with the undulations,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “He has wintered well and was impressive in two starts at Salisbury and Haydock last season. “He is a horse that will stay well and is going to definitely improve for a step up in trip. It is very exciting to have a horse going for the trial at Epsom with real Derby ambitions.”
