This team deserves all the gifts and donations they are getting.
Reports making the rounds has it that the NFF has not paid a dime in bonuses and camp allowances to the Flying Eagles since 2022. The coaches too, from Bosso to Zubair have also not been paid a dime.
Preparations are always always late and short-lived, and yet we expect winning performances from them. We have somehow learnt how to want to reap from where we did not sow.
I think going forward, I wouldn’t blame the coaches if they chose to sell slots in these teams for money. I cant imagine working under these toxic conditions and still not getting my emoluments as and when due, for months running to years.
As the local parlance goes, “Na wia man dey work naim e go chop”
No wonder NFF told Madugu to build a new Falcons team that won’t be “below par” with 98% of players who didn’t play at the Olympics (read it as home based).
I can bet that the same lack of payments would be the staple of both falconets and flamingoes (is it possible that that Irish based girl pulled out of flamingoes because it was weird to “play for free” for a national team?)
FIFA, IOC even CAF – let me leave FG out of this else it would be crazy to ponder – sent glasshouse various sums of money this year (looking back at previous years would be heart wrenching if considered) and what was the cash utilized on?
NFF is a perennial problem. How can it be scrapped?
