Ghana’s Black Satellites striker Jerry Afriyie was named Player of the Tournament at the just concluded WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lome, Togo.
Afriyie was named the best player ahead of his Nigerian counterparts following his impressive performance throughout the tournament.
He was on target in the final against the Flying Eagles but it was not enough as the Black Satellites fell to a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.

Nigeria playing one game less and squaring up against 2 power houses in African youth football Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in the group stages worked against our strikers Jephta and Arhierhi respectively who would have added to their numbers had we played equal number of games and against weaker group opposition like Ghana’s..
However we would know if Jerry Afriyie is actually worth being the best scorer and mvp ahead of our Arhieri and Jephta when both teams participate in the final playoffs January 2025 in South Africa.
I am generally impressed with the flying eagles and their coaches performance.
It’s long I saw an all-out Nigerian team, with fluid midfield and excellent wing and attacking display, the speed from both teams was electrifying.
I was particularly intrigued by the manner the two goals were scored that boy needs to be monitored very closely, the right back and right winger have turbo engine in them, they were moving with the speed of light, i love to see them move up in their carrier.
I don’t know if any other person observed any potential star in the team.
Dr. Drey and Deo over to you guys let benefit from your knowledge.
The final playoffs in South Africa which apparently provides better coverage and conditions of playing football will give us a much better platform to assess our players and identify the potential stars amongst them.
