Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have won this year’s WAFU Zone B championship after defeating Ghana 2-1 in the final on Wednesday.
This means the Flying Eagles have retained the WAFU Zone B title which they won in 2022.
A brace from Kparobo Arierhi was enough to earn coach Aliyu Suberu’s men the trophy.
Arierhi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before getting on the score sheet again to double the lead.
Ghana pulled a goal back in the 74th minute but the Flying Eagles held on to emerge champions.
After losing 1-0 to Burkina Faso in their opening game, the Nigerian team beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 to progress into the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the team came from a goal down to beat Niger Republic.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles and Ghana have both qualified for the 2025 U-20 AFCON tournament.

“…How is an Aboki the best candidate for the flying eagles job…” LMAOooo
Someone should please call that illiterate ethnic bigot and tell him Aboki has just won the 2024 WAFU U-20 championship, less than 2 months after being appointed unto the job. Because the wall-gecko….sorry…..wall street executive wannabe must by now still be working his 2nd of 3 daily jobs, scavenging for daily bread and unable to watch the game live.
The “Northern Coach” has shoved freshly baked, hot humble pie down the leprous throats of bigots and joined the list of “Northern Coaches” like Late Ismaila Mabo, Late Musa Abdulahi, Manu Garba and Ladan Bosso to have won something for Nigeria at whatever level they may have been called to serve the nation with heart and might.
Congrats coach Aliyu Zubairu. You have done the unthinkable.
The only downside of this triumph is that the NFF may have just found one more reason to not adequately prepare our national teams for tournaments.
Bro, a coach who won the FA Cup with El Kanemi, even from the lower division, must have something upstairs.
Hahahaha….Absolutely my brother.
Please tell that to that ethnic bigot whose first inclination at the announcement of Aliyu Zubairu was that a northerner should never be good enough to coach any Nigerian national team.
Winning the Fa cup and gaining promotion in the same season is not enough credence for the illiterate…LMAOoo.
I bet he never did any background checks before opening his leprous lips wide to blurt out that disgrace of a statement…..LMAOoo
Perfect salvos fired towards that Ghana refugee turned Wall Street Scavenger
Congratulations to Kparobo Ariehi for guiding Nigeria to win the Wafu Cup. I believe we can do greater if we inject more players from the talented BLFA and Madiba FC.
Tribal sucker! Haha
U see your disgrace, u piece of shit
Hehehe Ghanaman I understand your plight you even have your Nigerian version called Egungu. I know how to handle una matter no be today!
pmsl chinma x samuel just ask youresel why are you so hated in life? hmm??? who do yuh like dis??
chale ndo o, I feel sorry for yuh. lmaaoo
The most important thing is that they won against Ghana
This young man, Kparobo Erierhi,is a star striker to watch, possibly drafted to Super Eagles to compete with Osimhen and Boniface. The flying Eagles have successfully defended the championship they won two years ago. Ghana is getting wotowoto from Nigeria in all cadres of the game- all age grades and all gender.
