Simon Cletus was named Man of the Match, in the Golden Eaglets’ 1-0 win against Niger Republic in Group B, at the WAFU B U-17 tournament in Ghana.
Cletus, captain of the Golden Eaglets, has now won back-to-back Man of the Match award at the ongoing tournament.
He first picked up the award in the coach Manu Garba-led side’s 0-0 draw against Burkina Faso.
In Sunday’s Second Group B game against Niger Republic, Rapha Adams’ first half strike was enough to secure the three points.
The Eaglets had a player sent off in the second half but held on for the important win.
They will take on Togo in their final group game on Wednesday, 22 May.

SS 1 student with a dreadlock, story for the gods
Yes it’s a natural dreadlock popularly call Dada, if truly he is in ss1, the school will allow it becos its natural meaning he was born with it
THis Is the Age Group that give us the talents we enjoy in super Eagles today the Likes of Osimhen, Boniface, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Success, Chuks all came from this age group we need to protect it from the hands of Bosso dem!
There are hundreds if not thousands of SS1 students better than Cletus in our schools back home all we need to do is take football back to our school system in Nigeria and watch how dominant our National teams will become both in Africa and Globally in three to four years.
I doubt he is actual u17. I foresee what the same mavilon fc did with Charles Agada replaying here. They got a poor boy whose parent were farmers, never been in school, and enrolled him.
We really need something like the shell cup or an under 17/youth league. This fire brigade approach no be the way…and as for those doubting the age….The MRI cleared them so we have no proof and should leave that alone for now.
