Vizela vs Benfica: Today (Thursday), Vizela will play host to Benfica at the Estadio do Vizela for their quarterfinal match of the Taca de Portugal.
After suffering a loss to the Eagles in the fourth round of the same competition in 2019, the Vizelenses will be looking to get their revenge on the Eagles.
Vizela remain at the bottom of the Primeira Liga after four straight losses, with a 1-0 loss to Vitoria de Guimaraes last time out. After Pablo Villar was fired, Ruben de la Barrera was appointed manager in December, although the Vizelenses have lost all their league games since he took over.

The Braga team has won only one of their last 10 games in all competitions, a 1-0 Taca de Portugal round-of-16 win over Arouca. However, they have progressed without extra time, scoring four goals and conceding one in three games.
Next, they face an opponent they have never beaten, losing six and drawing one of seven matches, including their solitary competition loss. Benfica have won all but one of their last 11 matches in all competitions, losing to Estoril on penalties in the League Cup following a 1-1 draw.
In their last match, Arthur Cabral, Joao Neves, and Rafa Silva scored to beat Gil Vincente 3-0. Roger Schmidt’s side, the defending Primeira Liga champions, have not lost since August’s opening weekend and are top of the standings after one more game than local rivals Sporting Lisbon.
Benfica now focus on the Taca de Portugal, which they have won a record 26 times in their 86-year history. They last won in 2017 and have not reached the final since losing to Braga in 2021. After beating Lusitania 4-1 and Famalicao 2-0, they defeated Braga 3-2 in the last round to go to the Round of 16.
Vizela vs Benfica: Betting Analysis
Spanish midfielder Pedro Ortiz, who suffered an injury against Moreirense in December, has not played for Vizela this season and is still out of commission. Just before halftime against Arouca, French attacker Samuel Essende left the game due to an injury, and the former Caen player is a serious doubt for this match.
Meanwhile, Juan Bernat, a 30-year-old who was once a player for Paris Saint-Germain, has been out of action for Benfica due to a muscular ailment that he sustained back in October. Forward Casper Tengstedt, a 23-year-old who hasn’t played yet this season due to a thigh injury sustained on December 21 against AVS, has joined him on the team’s injured list. Since he scored in the previous two games, Cabral ought to continue to start at the head of the attack in today’s match.
