Raphael Varane has announced his decision to leave Manchester United at the end of the 2023/24 season upon the expiration of his contract.
Varane, 31, joined United in 2021 but has found it difficult to maintain the level of the impressive form he displayed during his trophy-filled, ten-year spell at Real Madrid.
Varane has made just 93 appearances in his three seasons at United with injuries, being a factor which restricted him.

“To you guys, supporters of Manchester United, it´s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt,” Varane said in a video he posted on both his Instagram and Twitter)X (formerly Twitter) pages on Tuesday.
“The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing.
“I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents. For my kids, it´s home here. It´s going to be a special place for me, for life.”
Varane declared that he was “very positive for the future” in light of Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival as a co-owner, even though the Red Devils are currently 8th in the English Premier League standings.
“The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy,” Varane said, ahead of the home match against Newcastle on Wednesday.

“I´ll see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season and it´s going to be very emotional day for me, for sure.”
Prior to his move to Manchester, Varane had a very fruitful spell at Real Madrid, winning four UEFA Champions League titles, becoming the youngest defender to achieve such feat. He also won three Laliga titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, one Copa del Rey amongst others.
The former France international couldn’t win as much with United with only the Carabao Cup the solitary trophy he won at the club.
