Southampton’s Yan Valery says his side needs to replicate the spirit they showed in Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Manchester United.
The Frenchman opened the scoring at Old Trafford with his maiden senior goal and was part of a combative performance that earned the Saints plenty of credit.
Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men remain two points above the drop zone thanks to last week’s 2-0 win over Fulham but have some tough games to come, with the visits of Tottenham and Liverpool to St Mary’s in two of their next three fixtures.

Replicating the determination shown on Saturday will surely help their chances against Spurs and the Reds and Valery says they can take great confidence from their Old Trafford showing.
He said: “It’s very important. I think we showed that we have a fighting mentality until the end. “We won’t give any team an easy game because we are fighting to get as many points as we can until the end of the season.
“We have to do it in every game until the end and I’m sure if we do it, then we will stay in the Premier League. “We gave everything and showed against a big Manchester United that we could have taken a point or all three. It’s good for the future and for the next games.”
