Union Berlin manager Urs Fischer expects Taiwo Awoniyi to play a key role in Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal clash against St. Pauli.
Awoniyi started Union Berlin’s 3-1 win against Mainz last weekend on the bench.
The Nigeria international came off the bench to register a goal in the game.

It was the forward’s 10th goal of the campaign.
“I wanted to take the pressure off Taiwo a bit. He was at the Africa Cup of Nations and it has gone very well this season. He’s had a bit of a dry spell with Union now. Vogi was one of our last goalscorers and I decided for him a bit on instinct,”Fischer told ligainsider.de.
“We still need Taiwo (against St Pauli). He is our top scorer and I’m glad it happened like this: Coming in and scoring against Mainz was important for his self-confidence.”
The 24-year-old has registered 15 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga club this season.

Awoniyi, Odion and Osimhen in attack for the Eagles come the playoffs, would be explosive. The good thing, they keep scoring goals.
