Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah scored twice in four minutes for Mainz 05 who beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in a derby game at the Commerzbank-Arena in their penultimate game of the season on Sunday reports Completesports.com.
The defeat put a dent on Eintracht Frankfurt’s hopes of securing a top-four berth.
Ujah who made his first start for Mainz since March 9 against Borussia Monchengladbach scored for the first time since Matchday 3 against FC Augsburg fired in an opener for his side in the 53rd minute of the game.
The Nigerian striker added a second four minutes converting smartly from close range after excellent build-up from Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
The goals ended Ujah’s 18 game goal drought in the Bundesliga. Despite probing for a comeback, the hosts failed to get the required cutting edge to breakdown the visitors.
As a result, the traveling outfit walked away with all the points, as Eintracht Frankfurt bow out of the top-four ahead of the final day next weekend.
Mainz 05 will host Hoffenheim in their final league game of the season next on Saturday.
The brace was Ujah’s third in the Bundesliga and it took his tally for four this season in 21 Bundesliga games.
Ujah, 28, was replaced in the 90th minute of the game.
Mainz 05 are now 13th in the Bundesliga table with 40 points from 33 games.
The former Cologne striker has made 107 appearances in the Bundesliga scoring 25 times.
