A very good and disciplined professional.
Met him and his beautiful partner back in 2017 and had a selfie in an African cuisine.Very humble and placid.
He came through the ranks and excelled and I believe if given the chance at the seniors he will continue from where he stopped in the youth set up.
But our coach has said no new players are needed… a case where we are going forward moving backwards… we have continue to say the Super Eagles is no one’s parlour… invite players based on form alone but no… we have a coach who continues to use abacus to solve modern mathematics problems… imagine the respect awoniyi will command at Union Berlin FC if he begins to mix it at real senior international level like Osimhen…
I throway salute Oga JimmyBall; Honestly i really marvel at your contributions at times especially when you claim to have played football at some appreciable level.
So, if you be any NT coach and you have some mission critical games such as the b2b w/cup qualifiers next month, you will jettison your known and established strikers whom you’ve been working with for like 3/4 yrs thereabout and who’re already building team chemistry and understanding just bcos we an Awoniyi who is beginning to find his form again. C’mon bro, no sane coach does that in a NT set up where you barely have three days of training with the boys. Some of you folks forget most times, that we can’t have more than 11 players on the field per time and 23 for any official competition. Abeg, make una dey reason small before una dey halla invite this invite that… Moreover, when the poor man eventually gets to even oblige the so many “Agents”, na una go still talk say the baba no sabi him first 11.
Shooor!
In Europe and South America, the best players are called up at every internationals
@Jimmy, Awoniyi is already getting the respect @ Union berlin. The more reason why they did everything possible to get him. He holds the club’s transfer record.
If its not an Igbo player people here will not pay attention or will start hating, half the team is Igbo. Awoniyi left Liverpool to be the main man. After he came back from injury of torn muscle in his leg he scored 5 in the last 7 games, he is really good during 1v1 plays. He was a substitute for an injured player in the beginning, he is now a starter in the German league, Germany knows how to recruit players especially having an interest in African players. He would never made it to the starting team in Liverpool, not even the bench since the team is stacked, he made a smart move.
German league is 4th in uefa ranking, better than going to a relegated team in premier league when he brought union berlin to 7th place in bundesliga for europa conference league where he scored 2 goals, he is working hard, Liverpool signed him for a reason. Since he is now a starter he has to score goals. Osimhen too, he has finally adapted to the Italian league, tying his goals scored in ligue one at the end of the season.
Awoniyi doesn’t even have to play for the super eagles, a corrupted and thief of a team, I just want to see him do well. Lets see what happens.
@ Alfa kilode?…why spoiling this beautiful football forum with tribal sentiment?…. Awoniyi is in form, playing scoring in a top5 league and should be in the national team simple….. you don’t need to play the tribal card to make them understand that.
Man… It’s not tribal sentiments. The guy spoke nothing but facts. A lot of Igbo people here on this forum are pure bigots. They especially don’t like Yoruba players being invited to the Super Eagles. Bunch of bigots
@Sunnyb, spot-on.
I am actually Sunny not Sunnyb.
Awóníyì – The new Onuachu
Awoniyi is completely different from Onuachu.Awoniyi is not a one dimensional striker,he scores in different ways.
Awoniyi, Osimhen, Sadiq and Moffi are strikers that can play in numerous formations.
I didn’t necessarily post that up to mean he could be equated with Onuachu in terms of style of play.. my focus really was on the goal-poaching itself; the ability to turn in the huge numbers the same way (or perhaps, even better than) Paul did in Belgium last season, we all saw what Paul did last term and the accolades and headlines he grabbed. If Taiwo keeps at his consistency, he could as well replicate same in Deutschland and force his way back into England next season!
Oh I see where you are coming from but the fact remains that there is no need for him to score 30 goals in a season before being included in the national team. The major focus should be versatility, proficiency and attitude.
You may recall at a point Awoniyi and Osimhen were scoring regularly in the same Belgian league before they moved to top five league.
Playing and performing regularly in a top five league will erase doubts about player’s capability and effectiveness in highly competitive matches.
One of the most vital components of being a successful coach is creating a highly competitive camp by inviting the best and most inform players.
If Belmadi,’s boy is serious about winning his first major trophy, he needs to stop reserving slots for certain players in the national teams.
The good thing is that fans can easily monitor players performance in their clubsides and know who is playing or performing regularly.
The current set of available players are the best we’ve had in decades, all is needed is the a robust technical bench, Not Alloy Agu that thinks only his village people are the best GK for SE.
The nff can also contribute by paying all outstanding bonuses and by upgrading current technical set-up.
Bottom line at the end of the day is, every player should prove his mettle, cos spaces are now highly competitive in that squad
