Former Nigeria international, Ifeanyi Udeze, has faulted Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, for starting Samuel Chukwueze in Sunday’s AFCON final.
Chukwueze was picked ahead of Moses Simon in the starting line-up for the final against the hosts.
It was his second start in the tournament unfortunately, he had a game to forget and had to go off for Simon early in the second half.

Despite taking the lead through captain William Troost-Ekong, the Ivorians fought back to win 2-1 and claim their third AFCON title.
“Starting Samuel Chukwueze against Côte d’Ivoire was a mistake,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“You don’t change a winning team, the Ivory Coast coach made use of the same formation from the semi-final, so I don’t know why Peseiro decided to change his.”
The former left-back went on to praise the Eagles for reaching the final.
He added:”Let’s appreciate the Eagles because they did their best after all one team must win and one team must lose.“

Congratulations the Super Eagles of Nigeria. It’s not easy to be the second best despite aspiring to be no1. To be candid, Peseiro sold out and I would like to advise the NFF to investigate him.
When we’re leading 1.0 I expect the coach to bring a defender and a defensive midfielder to chock ivorians already dominated midfield so that they can help iwobi and onyika. I also expect the coach to bring iheanacho on time! Anyway they tried..
Defend a single goal from the first half?
He should have done this and that . Yeah the rats are coming out of their holes. The boys tried but looked leggy nevertheless they did what most did not expect . The coach went beyond his target. Now it’s world and next AFCON . After all many said they will not come out of the group . The absence of Boniface should not be forgotten
