Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi featured for FC Porto who were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Manchester City in Group C of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Sanusi who has been ever present in Porto’s defence, once again saw action for 90 minutes.
The draw means Porto confirmed their place in the round of 16 in this season’s campaign with a game to spare.
Porto’s qualification was confirmed after Olympiacos lost 2-1 away to Olympique Marseille
City remain top on 13 points, Porto in second on 10 points while Marseille and Olympiacos both have three points.
In Group D, Frank Onyeka was in action for Midtjylland who earned their first point in this season’s Champions League following their 1-1 draw at Atalanta.
Alexander Scholz put Midtjylland 1-0 up before Cristian Romero equalised for Atalanta on 79 minutes.
The draw would not be enough for Midtjylland to pick a Europa League ticket.
The group’s other game saw Liverpool confirm top spot thanks to a 1-0 win against Ajax at Anfield.
The Reds have 12 points, Atalanta are in second place on eight points and in third place is Ajax with seven points.
And in Group B, Monchengladbach missed the chance to cement their place in the last 16 after they lost 3-2 to visiting Inter Milan.
The result means there is everything to play for on the final day in the group as all four teams still stand a chance of advancing.

Really good performance by Sanusi over the 2 legs against Man City. I like his DESIRE to bomb forward and whip crosses into the box. He has also started taking long range shots at goal. Very offensive minded. I think he could play as a left winger if given the chance. Not surprised he scored against Man City in the 1st leg. With his offensive minded attitude, scoring a goal was always a possibility.
His defending is not bad, but needs a bit of work. Keep it up, man!
Our full backs are doing well.
Left backs – Sanusi, Collins, Bassey
Right backs – Aina, Ebuehi, Ehizibue
Nice selection headache for GR!
He had a nice game. Blocked a goal bound ball on the line, also got beaten once or so but all in all a good performance. He will make a very good wing back. If he can work on his defending he should be number one on the Super Eagles list every time. He is better than most if not all our left backs going forward, he already has a goal to his name, he is playing regularly as well.
Rohr should work on his tactics and should stop playing players out of position. He is unbalancing the team. If zanusi cant replace collins at LB and akpoguma keeps playing at RB when we have at least 3 capable RBs then I dont know why he keeps inviting so many defenders. Get the right mix and formation. Let the team gel. Get more creative and defensive midfielders and stop the experiments.
