Victor Osimhen marked his return from injury with a goal as Napoli defeated Ajax 4-2 in Italy on Wednesday, to secure their fourth win in Group A of 2022/23 UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen’s Super Eagles teammate Calvin Bassey provided the assist for Ajax first goal.
Osimhen has been out of action for more than a month due to injury, but netted Napoli’s fourth goal to help seal their passage into the round of 16 with two games to spare.
Osimhen ended any hopes of a comeback as he snatched the ball from an Ajax player before slotting into an empty net.
With the score line at 2-0 Ajax pulled a goal back as Bassey set up Davy Klaassen to make it 2-1 on 49 minutes.
Napoli on 12 points top the group while Ajax, who have now lost their third game are third with three points.

Napoli is on fire right now and only Man city can match their fire right now….Good to see Osimhen back but that sitter he missed would have made it 5-2…..The Dutch have already started saying nonsense about Bassey not being worth that amount….I wonder what they have to say about Daley blind who Osimhen pocket stole.
Osihmen the destroyer. You have always been ruthless when fit. Just take care of yourself. You are far better than Erling Haaland if you set your mind to it.
Heaven bless Osihmen and all deserving Super Eagles players.
Osimhen could match Haaland, but he must decide to defeat his own Demons!!!
Less physical be more technical
The way osimhen attacked the ball with pace to win it from that defender is a joy to watch….. Welcome back big vic.
All i can say is that my head almost bust as Osimhen scored that goal. Osibobo please more of this ruthlessness. As I said let us wish him well he is the face of Super Eagles and our hope in terms of having a player breakinh records to come and he is 23 years. The sky is his limit if he put his career first and leave social media for now. Let someone else manage am lol.
I danced chanting Osimhen’s name to the extent that my neighbour called to find out if allis well……lol
I really love this boy and he is the reason why I have been watching all Napoli’s matches since 2 years ago. I believe he and the Napoli teammate will do wonders this season but I prayed that Osimhen should focus on soccer, train harder on the technical aspect. He should watch videos of Haaland to master his technicality, positioning, runs in the box and I believe he can be a real competitor with Haalands if he stays focussed.
We might have a similar scenario of Messi vs Ronaldo on our hands in the immediate foreseeable future
May God be with you Osimhen and guide you through this journey
Well said Brotherman Bankie. You are one of the people who make me keep coming here to comment. You are never shy to speak the truth.
Yes, Osihmen will go places with the right attitude. He can be far better than Haaland. Heaven bless Osihmen and all deserving Super Eagles players.
