Nigeria forward Emmanuel Dennis scored twice as Club Brugge were forced to a 2-2 draw by Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League Group A clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, reports Completesports.com.
Brugge took the lead in the ninth minute after Dennis met a cross inside Real Madrid box and slotted the ball home.
The goal was reviewed by VAR for two possible offside calls, but the decision was eventually given in the favour of the visitors.
Dennis further silenced the home fans when he got the second before the break.
He is the third Nigerian to score against Real Madrid in the competition, after James Obiorah and Ayila Yussuf.
His international teammmate, David Okereke was not listed for the game.
Real hit back through Casemiro and a controversial header from Sergio Ramos late in the second half.

Hmmm…na waooh!!, Nigeria boys are making me love football again..interestingly we gat too many players doing so well in europe, Unlike other african countries with just a player of the moment…
Wow. Just like a dream. One day, Nigeria will produce a George Weah. Soon, very soon.
Bomboy my good man, are you indirectly saying Rohr is doing a great job? Hinhinhinhinhin! Make I laugh like ELEYINMI OF VILLAGE HEADMASTER jare! This is the same Denis that Rohr invited, and some forumites developed constipation. Now eveybody can see the potential that Rohr saw in the first place.
What a way to show most Nigerian football fans that he deserves his invitation.I pray for Kelechi Iheanacho to wake up before it is too late. Many players are springing up on weekly basis in the SE attacking line.
The guy is good… I see Ahmed Musa retiring soon with his Saudi Arabia sojourn… no one knows what’s happening there!
This Dude has come along way indeed from the Nigerian u15 team days along side nacho’ Well talk “the world being at one’s FEET” Up Eagles
With ballers like Dennis and Osimhen, who needs to beg Abraham?
Carry go SE.
If only Rhor go drink Agbo to flush himself of hia lack of confidence, and play attacking football for us, this will be our second Golden Generation.
…good talk there @CJ, Rohr go for mad attack… who needs Tammy Abraham? I dont even like English trained stikers even… no skill or smartness, just textbook football! Long run and lazy kick and follow… Osimhen and Dennis… make una carry go joor!
Tammy Abraham, if u can read my post,u can go to hell with England. We even made a very big mistake by approaching u in the first place. They’ll cap u once and you’ll never smell their line up again, they’ll use and dump u and your mother would continue wailing for their racial abuse against u. We have lots of potent and viable options brother, so, arios amigo. With these guys: osimhen, chukwueze, aribo, samuel kalu, et al, beyond the skies would be our limit. Nice one @dennis. Keep blazing the trail and painting Europe with goals.
Lol Oakfield. In my opinion, we don’t need anyone who is not ready to give 100% for our jersey. If he had ended up with us sef, he might have played with regret. He might even pick and choose which matches to play. He would have been great for us, and we would have been even better for him. It’s his loss. Moving on please!
I’m telling u @pompei, lol
When rhor added this guy to the lists of players to face Ukraine, people were complaining who is Denis why not okereke but now we have seen that the coach saw his quality, don’t forget last season arsenal were tracking Denis if not of 75% of national team appearance.osimen, olayinka, onuachu their goals are coming tomorrow.
Tammy Abraham is 3rd eleven for now.in eagles team . But could make England 1st eleven d way things are going.
Those who criticized Rohr for inviting Denise, should apologize to him. The coach knows what he’s doing. Please we should allow him to do his job. Who is Tammy Abraham Where we have Oshimen, Denise, chukwueze and kalu. Up eagles.
Nig will be too strong for any africa opponent henceforth
Let me digress a little bit. The Bayern Munich vs Tottenham game today was a SHOCKER. Tottenham were humbled 7-2 at home, leaving their passionate fans nonplussed. Now, the interesting thing is that most of Bayern’s goals came from Tottenham players making silly passes around their danger area. Taking stupid, unnecessary risks. And each time, the outcome was the same. Bayern players would intercept, release a forward, who would then go ahead and score. They say when you keep repeating the same mistake and expect a different result, that is madness. I guess Tottenham players lost their marbles today, albeit temporarily. Why am I bringing this up? We are currently looking down the barrel of a gun, as we prepare to face Brazil. We must not give Brazil any gifts. Silly, casual passes in and around our vital area is absolutely prohibited. I would rather see Brazil work hard for their goals, than have us present them with generous gifts! Instad of trying to play the ball out from defence like Barcelona, CLEAR THIS BALL OUT. Nothing wrong with that. We can be inventive and stylish when we are attacking, but when the ball is in our area, we need to go back to the basics. Ruthless, no nonsense defending is the way forward. No unnecessary fouling of Brazil players either, they are even better than Roger Milla at diving. Deny them space and time on the ball. 100% serious, focused defending. If they manage to score, then congrats to them. But no gifts please!
Well said…
Just 11 days to this long awaited friendly…
Coming back to the topic.. I saw both goals scored by Dennis and I can say a little luck was on his side..
The first goal was more of luck, he had mistakenly controlled the balk and his left foot mistakenly kickedbtge ball into the net..
The same thing goes with the second goal, he almost lost his balance but, I won’t take away the fact that he brilliantly tipped the ball over the goalie…
And he should have gotten an hat trick but a nice stop from the home team goalie.. Albeit, I expect more from him…
Great observation, Walking. I made a similar comment below about Dennis’ goals, but you beat me to it. As you said, more is expected from him. Hope he keeps improving!
For me it is not luck but good positioning. That is what is required of a good striker not being behind the defenders. If you also observed well the two goals came as a result of the way he freed himself from the opposing defenders and his team mates know exactly what he can do in such danger areas. I credit him for his skills and hardwork
While I’m happy that Dennis got 2 goals against a European giant like Real Madrid, the manner he went about it has me raising eyebrows a little. The first goal, he pretty much fumbled into the net. It was a miscue. He intended to hit with his right, somehow missed, and the ball bounced of his left foot. Fortunately, it ended up in the net. The second goal, Modric was messing around with the ball OUTSIDE HIS DANGER AREA (HOPE WE DON’T DO THIS AGAINST BRAZIL!!!), got robbed, Dennis again wobbles like he is about to fall to the ground, then regains his balance and delightfully chips Courtois. Well, even if he scores with his buttocks, A GOAL IS A GOAL, IS A GOAL. So, nice one, Dennis. His finishing may be a bit wobbly, but his positioning and pace was very good.
One of my favorite Nigeria player. Thanks for making me proud boy, Ejike and igbekeme are next to get eagles call up.
He’s a very talented lad, but I don’t think he is a traditional striker. He’s mostly playing as a false 9 due to his pace and trickery. He has played almost every attacking position for Brugge since moving from Ukraine two seasons ago all to devastating effects. I think he will be very useful as an attacking midfielder for the SuperEagles. Ejuke of Heerenven is also on the radar of Rohr as we speak. We have a gaffer who will always call any player that is doing well in Europe on merit.
@Ay, I’m glad you are agreeing with me about these ballers, Denis and Ejike would be very good additions to super Eagles. We need strong, skillful and fast midfielders to really compete with the world bests. I’m so glad Rohr is monitoring Ejike.
I’m glad he has already made his debut under Rohr. I’ve known Bonaventure since his days at Zorya. I agree with you on Ejuke. That guy will flat out bench Musa. I watched him against Ajax and I must say he’s a baller. The good times are coming back since Westerhoff. All thanks to the gaffer as far as I’m concerned.
Why are you people over analysing the good work done by a very gifted player like Dennis, is it because he is not one of those you guys are always over hyping on this page. Do you know what it means to go to the Bernabeu and score two goals. Besides, he was just drafted to that position, maybe they had injury issues because Dennis had always played from the wings. Am happy for him, he is a real talent, i have watched him play from the wings, the middle and now number 9 position? he is good. This is why i was shocked that GR overlooked him when we were preparing for the World Cup and even since after the World cup. I hope he will give him time to settle down in the Eagles and not drop him before he is able to really jell with the team
We’ve already moved on to the future since the last WorldCup. Besides he was playing in Ukraine at the time. I don’t think he was better than Moses and Musa at the time. This might be his time with more consistency.
Fikayo Tomori is eligible to represent England,Canada and Nigeria ,but he has made it clear that the first country to give him a call up will get his nod to represent that Country . If Nigeria can go quickly for him then we can get him as a cover up for Kenneth Omeruo and Leon Balogun .
For Tammy Abraham ,Nigeria should forget about him. We have so many players in that position that will give 100% of their heart to Nigeria .In future Tammy Abraham will see himself like Gabriel Agbonlahor ,Nedum Onuoha ,Carlton Cole and others .
The SE is blessed with prolific attacking players, however lack of stiff competition in the central defence and goal keeping department remains a major challenge.
Good scouting of central defenders and goal keepers will further improve the team.
I hope Tomori and Eze are in the plans of the coach. I recommend replacement of current SE trainer to create room for fresh invitation/overhaul in that department.
