Samuel Chukwueze was benched in AC Milan’s 3-1 home loss to Liverpool in their first game of the Champions League new format on Tuesday.
Chukwueze featured in Milan’s 4-0 win against Venezia at the weekend, coming on with 12 minutes left.
In Tuesday’s Champions League opener, Christian Pulisic broke the deadlock on three minutes but Ibrahima Konate equalised for Liverpool on 23 minutes.
With four minutes left in the first half Virgil van Dijk put Liverpool 2-1 ahead before Dominik Szoboszlai added the third goal in the 67th minute.
The win took Liverpool to third in the 36-team table while Milan are in 33rd position.
At the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich recorded the highest win margin on Tuesday night after thrashing Dinamo Zagreb 9-2.
The star of the game was Harry Kane who scored four goals with Michael Olise netting a brace.
Other scorers for Bayern are Raphael Guerrero, Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka.
The win put Bayern Munich top on the log thanks to their huge win.
In other games, champions Real Madrid beat Stuttgart 3-1, Juventus beat PSV 3-1, Aston Villa defeated Young Boys 3-0 away and Sporting Lisbon spanked Lille 2-0.
