Victor Boniface was benched as Bayer Leverkusen lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday night.
Boniface was named in Leverkusen’s squad for the game after recovering from a thigh problem.
The forward sustained the injury on International duty last November.
His compatriot, Nathan Tella was named in the starting line-up by manager Xabi Alonso.

Tella was replaced by Jonas Hoffman in the 68th minute.
Piero Hincape gave Bayer Leverkusen the lead in first half added time.
Atletico Madrid however rallied courtesy of a brace from Julian Alvarez.
At the Jan Breydelstadion, Raphael Onyedika was in action in Club Brugge’s 0-0 draw against Juventus.
