Nigeria’s junior female yellow greens have qualified for the Super Six round of the ICC U-19 women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia despite losing to South Africa in their final Group C game on Wednesday.
Nigeria went into the contest on the back of a famous win against New Zealand.
But it was not to be as they lost to a dominant South Africa side by 41 runs.
However, the defeat did not come at a cost as the Nigerian team finished second on three points to progress into the next round.
South Africa finished top of the group on six points after securing their third win, while New Zealand also qualified from the group after beating Samoa.
In the Super Six, Group 2, Nigeria will take on England on Saturday January 25 before facing Ireland on Wednesday January 29.
Group 1 has six teams and Group 2 also has six teams.
Meanwhile, the top team and runners-up in each of the groups will qualify for the semi-finals.
