The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has hailed the Flamingos for their impressive display at the ongoing U-17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic.
Bankole Olowookere’s side bowed out of the competition on Saturday night following a 2-0 loss to the United States of America.
The Flamingos were in imperious form during the group stage but found the Americans a tough nut to crack.
Kennedy Fuller scored from the penalty spot late in the first half to hand US the lead , while Kimmi Ascanio added the second in the second half.
The Nigerian girls failed to replicate their performance from the previous edition in India where they came third.
FIFA in a short post on the social praised the Flamingos and three other teams, who have been eliminated.
“Made their nations proud at the #U17WWC. ,” FIFA wrote on X.
