Two Nigerian referees, Aminu Shamtali Shuaibu and Muhammadu Yakubu
have been picked by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Shuaibu and Yakubu’s inclusion is a respite after Nigerian referees were excluded from the officiating team at the ongoing Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
CAF selected 14 referees for the biennial competition which will be hosted by Egypt.

15 assistant referees, 10 video assistant referees, VAR, and three assessors will also be at the tournament.
Egypt was announced new host of the 2025 U-20 AFCON last week following Cote d’Ivoire’s withdrawal.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in Group B with Egypt, Morocco and South Africa.
The competition will run from Sunday, 27 April to Sunday, 18 May.
