Second half goals from substitute Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey secured Arsenal a 2-0 win at Aston Villa in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Gunners have now gone level on points (six) with Manchester City and Brighton, who also recorded their second win in the league.
Arsenal summer signing Riccardo Calafiori made his debut for the Arsenal after replacing fellow left-back Jurrien Timber.
Villa would have themselves to blame for missing begging chances with Ollie Watkins the worst culprit.
The England striker missed from close range early in the first half with David Raya to beat, after Gabriel Magalhaes was muscled off the ball close to box.
Then in the 54th minute his close range header was superbly palmed away by Raya after the initial effort came off the bar.
Arsenal then broke the deadlock in the 67th minute thanks to Trossard who slotted past Emiliano Martinez after the Villa Defence failed to clear a Bukayo Saka cutback.
With 13 minutes left Partey made it 2-0 as he slammed home Saka’s pass with Martinez only helping it into the net.
