Kieran Trippier claims his move to Atletico Madrid is a “step forward” and he believes coach Diego Simeone can take him “to the next level”. The 28-year-old England international right-back moved to the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer from Tottenham in a €25million deal as a direct replacement for Juanfran in the side.
And, following a strong start to life in Spain’s La Liga, Trippier has waxed lyrical about his new club, while he firmly believes Simeone can get the best out of him.

The former Burnley man is also looking to fully embrace the move abroad by learning Spanish to be able to communicate with his team-mates.
When asked about his thoughts after a first month with Los Rojablancos, Trippier told AFP: “For a defender, there is no better place than Atletico. “During these years you can see how strong Atletico has been, their teams have always looked like a family, and that is what I feel now.
“Everything comes from Cholo; I think he can take me to the next level. “The passion he (Simeone) has is incredible, in the games he is seen celebrating the free-kicks as if they were goals, it is something that gives you a great boost. “I am working with one of the best coaches of the world, and Atletico is one of the biggest teams in Europe: it’s a step forward.”
