Tottenham Hotspur could have Lucas Moura, Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama available for Thursday’s Carabao Cup showdown with Chelsea. Spurs will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their semi-final tie at Stamford Bridge, but they have seen a number of key players ruled out since establishing that advantage, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli suffering ankle and hamstring injuries, while Heung-Min Son is away with South Korea at the Asian Cup.
That has stretched Mauricio Pochettino’s squad to the full over recent weeks, but the Argentine has confirmed that forward Moura and midfielder Sissoko should be available for Thursday’s contest, while Wanyama could also come back into contention after resuming first-team training.
Pochettino told the Spurs website: “I think it’s good news that Moussa and Lucas are going to be in contention and Victor has started to join the group. The manager and coaches always want their players to be available.”
Moura has missed Tottenham’s last three matches after picking up a knee injury in the FA Cup victory over Tranmere at the start of the month, while Sissoko sat out last weekend’s victory over Fulham with a groin problem.
Wanyama’s absence has been slightly more long-term, as he has not featured in over two months due to his own knee injury.
The trio’s impending return follows Eric Dier making his comeback against Fulham – the England international came on as a late substitute at Craven Cottage after over a month out with appendicitis.
